The Guam Community Tennis Association continues to do its part to improve the Tamuning tennis courts.

The GCTA is a nonprofit founded in 2002. It is a registered community tennis member in the Hawaii Pacific section of the U.S. Tennis Association, the governing body for tennis in the United States.
"Our goal is to promote grassroots tennis amongst juniors and adults," GCTA president Dan Tinsay said.
Taking it a step further in 2003, GCTA adopted the Tamuning tennis courts, and has been working with the Tamuning mayor's office to implement tennis programs for juniors and adults.
"Our goal is to upgrade and maintain the two public courts that will assist GCTA in promoting grassroots tennis," said Tinsay.
He added that GCTA actively solicited donations that were used to repair the court lights, power wash the courts and install new nets. Its next project is to repaint the courts.
Tennis equipment was also donated to the mayor's office for residents for to use on the courts. The Tamuning mayor's office was given the 2008 District Service award by the Hawaii Pacific Section of the USTA for its strategic partnership with GCTA. Tamuning Vice Mayor Louise Rivera accepted the award on behalf of the mayor's office.
Over the years the junior and adult programs have reached tennis enthusiasts islandwide that can look forward to events being planned for 2009. Upcoming events are the first-ever USTA-sanctioned junior tennis tournament on Guam, and an adult team night league.
"We are very excited about the upcoming events and look forward to planning additional ones in the future," said Tinsay.
