Grande-Basque island is one of the best site to visit. It’s the only Island witch provide up to 12 Km of marvellous hiking trails.

 

There are also many beaches where you can swim, play volley ball, make snorkelling and many more.

 

All beaches are equipped with to camp with tent sites, picnic tables, wood stoves, ant toilets. The wood is provided on the island at a fair cost.

 

On the day time, the guides keep you informed of the local activities. The safety in insured with an Island warden 7 days a week 24 hours a day.

A wide variety of mushrooms can be find on the island. There is a proper environment with the soil, humidity and many other ingredients to watch them grow from day to day.

 

The Mycologist Club members come each year on the island to explore and explain all kinds of mushrooms that we find. The population is invited to take part of their hiking trail excursion and learn on these species.

The rock weed (Fucus) and Kelp (Laminaire) are the main source of the basic food for many underwater species.

 

The sea water is very clear so these plants can grow up very easily along the island coast. The sun is mainly the source of that marine life  result.

 

On the island, the guides are picking up many underwater species to make their sea scoop activity. You can then see and touch what they found along the shore at low tide level.
