JELLYFISH

Many species of jellyfish could be seen in our area.

There is one kind that can mainly be seen  at the end of the summer. That kind is called “Lion’s Mane Jellyfish”.  It’s color is normally pink but change from orange to brown when getting old.

This one has long tentacles that can reach up to 25m (84ft) long and 1m (3.28ft) in diameter. Normally, it is not as that long but no matter the longer is, you should avoid to touch them with the skin.

The contact with skin create irritations and a feeling of burning witch is not eliminated when you wash the affected area in water. There are some skin cream that remove the pain but unfortunately, nobody carry that cream with him before having be hurt with jellyfish

The divers are normally well protected against the jelly fish because the suit prevent any direct skin contact with the tentacles.

However, it is very uncommon to have that kind of problem in cold water unless in warm water like in Florida and south area.
