My Days In Cuba: I landed on the rock in December 1987. I hated my Father for taking me away from my life and friends back home in Louisiana. You see, until I moved to Cuba, I had never traveled in the military with my Father. I had lived with my Mother from the time of their separation when I was only 3 years old. I was not accustomed to the military life like the rest of the base. I started out as a Navy brat late in life...but I caught on fast! My address in Cuba was GP4A (does anyone remember what the GP stands for?). My phone number was 2672 (what's up with the 4 digits?). I was in Cuba from 1987 to 1991. We lived in one of the cement houses with Flintstone furniture until we received our own stuff. I've seen pictures of the houses that are there now... much nicer than what we had to live in! The actually look like "real" houses! |

| Memories: When I firsts arrived to Cuba I met Cindy and Alicia...they were the two that introduced me to everyone and were kind enough to show me around the base. It didn't take long before I met everyone on the base and felt like I was one of the gang. Then Laurie (Diaz) and I clashed heads but were soon to become best friends. We were fighting over a man... (God knows where this man is now) ... and realized that we were so much alike. My favorite bands were The Cure and Stevie B. I got to go to Jamaica my senior year. I hung out at the Beach during the day and the bowling alley at night (until I was old enough to drink!). When I was old enough, I went to The Windjammer and Post 46 for fun. Senior year was a blast. The friendships I made, the memories that I will cherish.... ...this page is dedicated to everyone that made those years some of the best of my life. Thank you! Tabetha LeDoux |
