The meadow and my shooting lane                                               The fallen Bull is found

My arrow was found first                                                         The 4x4 was 25 yds. beyond!

The weather held and at daylight we resumed the search for my elk. Miles Hogan, Jim Sanchez, my guide Scott, and I decended into the meadow where the trail ended last evening and just another 75 yds. into the first treeline Miles first found my arrow and another 25 yds below found the fallen Wapiti! A nice 4x4 with a symetrical rack for the Bowdad! Then the fun turned to work as the quartering and packing out began.

The rest of our group were up and out early hoping to change their luck.

Travis stuck a 5x5 around 10:30 a.m. and after waiting for an hour set out with his guide Jacob to follow the trail. The search took them uphill which was not a good sign. They returned to ESO for lunch and additional help. The search resumed later in the afternoon but was fruitless. Lonny last found blood at least 700 yds. uphill and the search was abandoned when it was felt that a non-fatal wound had occurred.

Curt drew on a wise big one who turned away in time to save his antlers. Both he and Jack had bugling all around them this afternoon.

Jager had two cows and a calf at 100 yds. but no bulls.

Travis is going cow hunting tomorrow! Stay tuned for that one !
