| This page is dedicated to my second car, a 1988 GTA Trans Am. Factory stock they came with a L98 5.7L V8 with Tuned-Port Injection (TPI) mated with a TH-700R4 automatic transmission. Unfortunantly the previous owner (and original buyer) had the dealership remove the L98 and replace it with the LB9 5.0L (305) TPI engine for a $400 credit to the price of the car. Even with only 195hp/270lb-ft, it was still a lot faster than my first car, my 1979 Firebird. I only had the car for about a year before the oil pump crapped out on me and I spun a crankshaft bearing. I sold it for $1500 and used that towards the down payment on my 2001 Z28.
