| First of all, I would suggest trying to get gold on all of the license tests. If you can do that, then you win some cars that can't be gotten any other way. Also, since you get these cars for free, that puts you in an extremely good position at the start of the game, because you will have a car of almost every type that will compete and win in almost every race. However, if you are like the other 95% of us who have trouble getting any more than 3 or 4 gold tests out of 60, then I suggest you start looking this short guide over. First of all, print out the prize car list, that way you will know what races win what cars. That way you will be able to plan your advancement in the game rather easily. Now, go to East City, and go to Toyota and then into Used Cars. look through the list. See that Supra (Turbo) '93? Yeah, the red one. Buy it. This car will be your first, and it'll be a good one. If you have any money to buy anything, I suggest an hp increase like a Stage 1 Turbo. Now, on to the races! 1) Sunday Cup. Get used to it. You'll be spending a lot of time in here. Race. Win. Race. Win. Race and win until you have enough money to get a Stage 2 turbo or better tires. Buy it and continue racing. Win all the Sunday Cup racing, wing all the Clubman Cup races. After winning all of those a few times, you should have enough money to get some better brakes or tires. I suggest brakes first, then tires later on. At this time, you should probably stay away from the "For Professionals" parts, as you can really screw up the balance of your car by messing with things like the limited slip and traction controllers if you don't know much about them. 2) Time to move on. Well, by now you should be about sick of those slow, boring races in the Sunday and Clubman cups. I suggest working on your licenses until you have at least an A license, though it would be best to go ahead and get all your licenses up to I-A at this point, as you will now be branching out and trying new races that sometimes require higher licenses to race in. 3) Buy a couple weight reductions, brakes, better tires, etc. and enter these races to win prize cars, which you can sell or keep (depends on if you like them or not or if you want quick money or not): FR Cup Challenge Race 1 Compact Car World Cup Convertible Car World Cup Historic Car Cup (Watch out for the Ford GT40 sneaking into that Rome Circuit race, you will be unable to get anywhere near it most likely, and will lose if it's racing) 4) Got a lot of money now, huh? Looking for a new car? Try a Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport. Yeah, 333 hp stock. Nice. Get some good tires for it, some good brakes, some kind of hp increase, and some weight reduction, that Corvette is a heavy mother...Anyway, now is the time to start making some real money. Enter the Station Wagon Cup race #2, on the Super Speedway. With your suped up Corvette, you should win easily (If the station wagons suddenly seem to get a huge boost of speed, try to block them, and they will fall back after a few seconds). Sell the Station Wagon you win from this race. Repeat. Repeat again. Repeat until you swear eternal vengence on those cheating station wagons. Chances are you'll have ~$500,000 by this time. On to your next great car, the Ford GT40. 5) Yeah, the GT40. The car that plagued you in the Rome Circuit race in the Historic Car Cup. Buy it from the Ford "Special" lot. I suggest buying it in black or maybe red, as those are the best colors ;) So you're saying "What, only 305 hp? this thing'll get eaten alive!" Well, not really. You can win most 591 hp limit races with it. However, if you have trouble, you can go and buy a stage 1 or stage 2 NA Tune for it. "What? Buying upgrades for a special lot car? you're lying!" Nope, Stage 1 brings hp up to about 450, Stage 2 puts it up around 550, and Stage 3 raises it up to about 650. Nice. This car will win pretty much any race you enter it in, as long as you can drive it well. P.S.: Be sure to equip the Super Soft tires before you do anything else, they come with the car. 6) Now, time for some REAL money...Yeah, you're a pro at this race winning thing, now that you've got your GT40. Now it's time to go after the big money. Take an extremely fast and light car (GT40 should do, as long as it's fully modded) and take it to the GT All Stars race #3. Win it. What's this? The Speed 12? Wow, worth $500,000. Sell it. If you like it, just win another and sell that. Repeat. Repeat again. Repeat again. Repeat until your fingers feel like they're about to fall off. Chances are you're now rich. Now that you can afford any car in the game, it's time to go out on your own, I suggest picking up these cars first of all, just for the ease with which you can win races in them: Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak Version, 981 hp, 1763 lbs, 4wd. Toyota GT-ONE Road Car from the Toyota Special lot, you can upgrade to 9xx hp, like the Escudo. Also pick up the Mitsubishi Taeivon Trampio FTO (Best FF car in the game), the Alfa Romeo 155 Touring Car, maybe the OPEL Calibra Touring Car or the OPEL Tigra Ice Race Car, all from the special section in each dealership. Also pick up one of those rally Lancers or Imprezas, those are pretty fun to drive in rally races too. Also, this is about the time you'll be experimenting with car settings. Go ahead and do what you want, but be sure to write down the original settings in case something goes wrong and you pretty much ruin your car. On to the Endurance Races. What fun :p Well, there you have it. Not very in depth, but it'll get you where you want to go. Written by skynyrd |
