Lynchburg Service Unit Minutes: October 4, 2001

The October 4, 2001 meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Connie Hensley and the lighting of three candles. The red, white and blue candles stood for our flag and reminded us of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Girl Scouts have been asked to show their patriotism by wearing these colors. The three candles were lit as the three parts of the Girl Scout Promise were recited.

Rebecca Duncan gave a report on the Honor and Service Sermons given on Scout Sunday at Peakland United Methodist.

Connie Hensley spoke on Networking: the process of true communication. She stressed that leaders with questions should not hesitate to call the Service Unit team members for answers, use e-mail, telephone or chance meetings to find new ideas or get help with questions. Service Unit meetings are a great place to "network". Following Connie’s talk, a "Get Acquainted" game was played so that participants could practice networking.
