Safety

A train detection and signalling system will be built for this project. As with everything relating to the railway infrastructure, safety is of the up most importance. It is important that the design of the system is done so that it is a fail-safe system. Any failure will result in the system returning to a safe mode, i.e. everything stops, red signals.

It is important that all failures are right-side failures; a failure results in a safe state for the system. Wrong-side failures are to be designed out of the system.
