Project Title: Train Detection and Signalling System (Using CAN interface)
Aim of the Project
The aim of this project is to design, build and test a train detection and signalling system. The system will be developed using the Infineon C167 microprocessor and will utilise the CAN interface. Several communicating C167 microcontrollers will be used for the project. The design of the system should be such that it is fully fail-safe.
Objectives
1) Build a train simulating model and detection points.
· Establish non-contact train detection
· Generate interrupts on both the rising and falling edge of C167
· Design train detection to be fail-safe
2) Interface three C167 microcontrollers
· Fully using the Controller Area Network (CAN) interface for:
o Remote detector information
o Clear/Occupied indication
o Reset and restoration
· Establish priority of messages
3) Design, build and test signalling aspects
· Design aspects to fail-safe
· Interface with parallel I/O lines of the C167
4) Design, build and test a signallers interface
· That provides the signaller with a clear/occupied indication for each track section
· That allows the signaller to individually reset each track section
5) Test the final system for correct train detection and signalling
· At various train speeds
· Correct aspect indication
· Correct reset functionality
· For continuous operation
