Abbey's Silver Award project was to collect canned goods and non-perishable food items for the Sacred Heart of Jesus School food pantry. The Sacred Heart Food Pantry is a ministry of the Scared Heart Church, conference of St Vincent de Paul. The food that was donated was later packed and deliverd to needy families in the area. Abbey left fliers on the doors in her neighborhood explaining her project with a list of food items needed and a bag in which to put the donations. On June 10 she picked up the donations, checked expiration dates on donated items and brought them to the pantry. In addition, she checked dates on non-perishable
food items already stored in the pantry. She also organized the shelves,
cleaned and painted the pantry. As a prelude to her project,
Abbey earned several interest patches, Studio2B
charms and the Cadette leadership award.
The Silver Award is the highest award
a Cadette Girl Scout
can earn.
