Blankets of Love
Gold Award Project
July 2003
ANGIE
I found that your departure from our lives
which was brought upon us without much warning
was just a little test of time
to see if we could go on surviving
I loved going to visit my favorite pal
for I really loved Angie a lot
but the day she was called
I was in a deep emotional rut
I really didn't want her to leave
But I knew she had to go
up to heaven to be in a better place
and I know I have to go with the flow
for life is a continuous cycle of agony and pain
but I have to continue living
and hopefully not in vain
while your spirit keeps on giving

written by Brittney for Angie
Brittney's project is dedicated to her cousin, Angie, who was a patient at St. Jude's Clinic.  She wanted to return a small portion of the love and care St. Jude provides for each of their patients.

Brittney's goal was to make a difference in a child's life by designing, sewing then distributing 60 security blankets to the children at St. Jude Affiliate Clinic in Baton Rouge in hopes that the blankets would bring each child some comfort, make them feel special, loved and brave. As each child came to the clinic, Brittney spent time talking to them while in the waiting room and each child had the opporunity to choose the blanket he or she wanted. Angie's mother helped distribute the blankets.

Brittney contacted several organizations for donations of materials needed for the blankets, many responded.  She would like to thank the wonderful people with the Home Sewing Association and Cranston Fabrics. Also thanks to St Jude for their support of a project was very dear to her heart.
