One More Girl
Campaign If you know of another girl
who would like to join Girl
Scouts please bring her to one of our
meetings! Every girl who recruits a new
girl to Girl Scouting can receive a patch to wear
on the back of her vest/sash.
Troop Web Page We now have a troop web site!!! Im learning as I go so please be
patient! All of our meetings are listed there, who
brings snack/drinks, activity
information is there too.
There are also links to permission slip and other forms
you might need.
I am going to try and put information on our trip to
on there as I find it!! So check it out and let me know what you
think the
address is:
http://www.geocities.com/gstroop230
Recycling We would like to try recycling aluminum cans
as a fund raiser for our trip to
was thinking that we could set up one Saturday
each month. I would be in the
parking lot at school for a couple of hours and you
could drop off the cans to
me there.
Then I could take them to the recycling center right away. That way
they dont sit at my house or in my van for too
long. We did this for Julies Gold
Award project and received over
$60.00 for a van and a car full of cans!
The
first Saturday we would do this is Saturday, October
11th from noon-2:00. I will
post the Saturday schedules on the web site and in
the newsletter. Thanks!
Permission
Slips There is a stack of permission
slips in everyones folder tonight.
These are the permission slips for
all of the activities that I am aware of so far.
As I get information for additional
activities I will put the permission slips into
your folders.
You can turn these in as soon as you like (up to the due date
listed on the form).
The earlier they get turned in, the more likely you are to get
into the program.
Some fill really fast. I have
also listed on each permission
slip whether or not Cookie Credit can be used for
each program.
Patrols Now that we
are Junior Girl Scouts we will be doing a little more self-
governing. The girls will get to have some input into
what badges we earn and
what activities we do. The method for doing this is to split the
girls into patrols
and let the patrols come up with ideas and present
them to the rest of the
troop. We will be splitting the troop into 4 patrols
via a random drawing at
our meeting this evening. The patrols will take attendance and
dues. We are
also going to look through the Junior badge book
and have the girls choose
which badges they are interested in earning. We will also ask each patrol to
come up with some ideas for places they would like
to go or things that they
would like our troop to do. We do this so that the girls can start the
process of
running their own troop and have some say in the
things that we do. It also
gives them the opportunity to try out their
leadership skills. Each patrol will
have a patrol leader, asst patrol leader, patrol
treasurer and patrol scribe. These
duties will be changed frequently and one adult will
be assigned to each patrol
to keep things running as smoothly as possible.
