Troop 230 Newsletter, October 10
Snacks – Thanks to Nicole for bringing the snack and
Janie for bringing the drinks. At
our next meeting on November 7th
Laurel will be bringing the snack and Emmy
will be bringing the drinks.
Next Meeting – I am canceling our meeting on October
24. Hinsdale has their
Halloween party that night so the
cafeteria is unavailable and our Halloween
dance is that night. So I’ll see everyone at the Halloween dance!!
One More Girl
Campaign – If you know of another girl
who would like to join Girl
Scouts please bring her to one of our
meetings! Every girl who recruits a new
girl to Girl Scouting can receive a
patch to wear on the back of her vest/sash.
Troop Web Page - Don’t forget to check out the troop web
site. The address is:
http://www.geocities.com/gstroop230
Recycling – We would like to try recycling aluminum cans
as a fund raiser for our trip to
Savannah Georgia! The first Saturday we would do this is
Saturday, October 11th
from noon-2:00. I’ll be waiting in Hinsdale’s parking lot for
you to bring your
cans.
I will post the Saturday schedules on the web site and in the
newsletter.
Thanks!
Newport
Aquarium Trip – We had a blast!!! The penguins were my favorite!!! Afterward
we had ice cream at Johnny
Rocket’s!!! It was awesome!! Thanks to Mrs. Molony
for driving!
Science in
Everyday Life – This program will be held at
the Program Center and lasts for
2 Wednesday nights in a row (October
22 & 29). At the end of the second
evening the girls will have earned
the whole badge! Both evenings are from
6:00 – 8:30 and we will meet at the
Program Center. Cost is $12.00/girl and
includes both evenings!! Girls should
wear their vest/sash to this event.
Halloween Dance
– We will be having a Halloween Dance on October 24 from
midnight at the Florence Christian
Church. Cost is $6.00. We will be wearing
our Halloween costumes, trunk or
treating, dancing and making crafts.

Sunrock Farm Trip – We will be going to Sunrock
Farm this year for our pumpkin patch

We will get to milk a goat, feed baby goats, take a hayride and pick a
pumpkin. We will be at Surock
Farm from 2:00 – 4:00 on Saturday, October 25.
We will be leaving from the school at
1:30 and should be returning at around
4:30.
Cost is $10.00/person – families are invited to attend this event. Girls
should wear their vest/sash to this
event. Registration deadline is October
10.
Disney On Ice – We will be attending a production of Disney
On Ice on Saturday,
November 1 at 3:30. We will be leaving from school at 2:30 and
should return
around 6:30. I have no tickets left. Girls should wear their vest/sash to this
event. Registration due by October 10.
Ice Skating
Party – This will be held on Sunday,
November 9 at the Northern Ky. Ice
Center from 5:30 – 7:30. The cost is $4.00 and includes skate
rental.

Splish Splash Water
Blast – This will be held on Friday, November 14 from 8:00 – 10:00
at the Silver Lake Recreation
Center. Cost is $5.00/person and is due
by
October 10.
Nut Sale – We will be selling nuts this year – I know
that we took last year off – but with
the Savannah trip coming up we need to do the fund raising. The permission
slips went home last week and need to
be returned tonight. The order forms
will go out tonight. They are due back to me on November 7. The nuts will be
distributed at our meeting on
November 21 and money will be due in on
December 5. We receive $1.00 for each item that the girls
sell.
Ready-Set-Go
Camping – Olivia and Emily were
registered to attend this program last
year and the program was
cancelled. So you both have a $5.00
credit that you
can use toward a Council sponsored
program. You can tell which programs are
council sponsored by looking on your
permission slips – if you can use cookie
dough then the program is council
sponsored. Please let me know what activity
you would like to use your credit
for. Thanks!
C.O.S.I. – We will be
going to a Camp In at COSI in Columbus on Friday February 6. We
will leave right after school on
Friday. The program lasts until noon on
Saturday. The program costs $31.00. I would also like to stay and see the show
on the IMAX extreme screen (costs
$6.00). We would also need to stop for
lunch on the way home, so that’s
another $5.00 for fast food! I would
only need
to collect the $31.00 to reserve our
spot. The web site has the link to COSI
in it.
It’s a really cool hands-on science
museum and this year’s theme is 2004: Space
Destination! We would take our sleeping bags and sleep on
the museum floor!
A permission slip is in your folder
this week and is due back on November 21.
