“MOM & ME” CAMP

October 13-15, 2006

PACKING LIST (for Scout & Mom)

We encourage Moms to keep their belonging separate from Scouts. This is a great opportunity for you to see how your daughter has developed organization and camping skills. If you keep all the toothbrushes in your bag, guess what??? How independent will your little one be that weekend? Remember, Moms will not always be there… Allow you Scout to pack her own gear.

Space is a luxury!  Each Scout is allowed to bring three bundles:

Bundle #1 is your Sleeping Bundle:

You need to roll your blanket inside the sleeping bag.

If your pillow is small/flat, place it inside the Sleeping Bag, and roll everything tight.

If your pillow is too big to fit in the sleeping bag, don’t worry; place the rolled sleeping bag and the pillow in a large, heavy-duty trash bag.

This is all considered your Sleeping Bundle.

SORRY MOMS… NO mattresses/pads of any kind are allowed. Camp Sherman will provide sleeping mattresses for all.

Bundle #2 is your Personal Bundle:

It can be a Duffel bag or small luggage with wheels. However, it needs to be something that you can carry/move and pack all by yourself. Test it out at home.

All your clothes, your Hygiene items, your Gear and your Food Kit must fit in this Bundle.

Bundle #3 is your “Day Pack” Bundle:

Your Day Pack can be a Backpack or the Troop Bag. You will use your Day Pack to carry your own water bottle, sunscreen, camera, etc, plus you will use it to stash your crafts to take home.

You can pack additional items in your Day Pack (cards, journal, pen, flashlight, etc), and once we arrive at camp, you can take those items out of the Day Pack and put it in your Personal Bundle.

Make sure that this bag is sturdy and easy to carry!

For this trip, you will need to bring Troop Hat

We will be out of doors a good deal of time, and at night we will be at Campfire. We might have snow… so pack accordingly!!! If you tend to get extra cold, make sure the clothing you pack will keep you warm. Please pack clothing suitable for both, cool mornings/evenings and warm days.

Pack sturdy washable items in which you can move about.  No fancy stuff… we’re Girl Scouts on a camping trip!!!

Label all items with your name for ease of packing the day we return home. Remember, you will be packing all by yourself when we are at Camp.   If your mom/dad is helping you pack, make sure you know where everything is.

You can use this packing list to write in what you are taking. Make sure to bring this list with you so you can check it off as you pack the day we return.

Avoid unnecessary purchases and substitute where possible with items you already have.  You’ll be a lot happier if you don’t have to worry about taking care of new clothing.

Leave anything valuable at home.  We cannot be responsible for missing items or items damaged by mildew, dampness or dust.

ABSOLUTELY No snack food, candy, soft drinks (they attract small critters). No iPods, Cell Phones (only adults are allowed to have Cell Phones), radios, walkmans, electronic games or electronic pet that needs feeding, or real pets! Please, no money either.

Leaders will take these items away if you bring them.

The only way to enforce the rules with the Scouts is if the adults comply with them too.
