COPTIC ICONS
By
GEORGE PHILIPOS
THE ICONOGRAPHER
George Philipos  was born in a Christian home, on March 7, 1956 in Egypt.
Because his father was a preacher of the Gospel, George, at a tender age ,was exposed to the Christian religion. His interest in the Visual Arts was ignited after his exploration of the vast riches of Egyptian Art and Art history.

George Philipos found painting Coptic Art as his medium to communicate to
the world his religious convictions.

Mr. Philipos  attended the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Universitv of Alexandria where he obtained a Bachelor of Fine  Arts Degree. His concentrations were on painting, drawing, design, engraving and sculpture. At present, his passion in Coptic Art is manifested in his paintings with religious themes.

Mr. Philipos has been commissioned to paint Coptic Icons for various Churches in Egypt and the United States.
