A thing without convention
Unnerving, unsettling
But familiar all the same

Shadowy envelope
A case for an enigma
Enshrouding, entrapping
But something within remains

Looming reality
A truth too true to tell
Covering, silencing
But the facts defy the claims

Blurred photograph
A flicker of what was
misleading, intriguing
But it cannot be explained

Lurking mystery
A riddle from the past
Entrancing, puzzling
But no answer can be gained
