GSN ends 5-game slide, turns back New Virginia
(AP) - GSN went into their game Tuesday looking to snap out of a recent slump against a struggling New Virginia ball club.  Despite playing at times with a lack of motivation, "The Kids" were able to pick up a victory on the road, even though they would have to go seven innings to do it.
With starter Rich Thompson not fully recovered from a minor injury suffered in the Good Shepherd game May 29th, Gentle Shepherd turned to Gary Bonanno to take over the pitching duties.  The youngster would respond with a route-going performance—striking out one batter and helping GSN to their second win of the season.
Gentle Shepherd staked themselves to an early 10-0 lead after 3 frames—keyed by a 7-run second inning in which they batted through the order.  From there, however, GSN seemed to play uninspired softball.  The shutout was lost in the 5th when New Virginia pushed three runs across the plate.  The home team would score three more in the final inning of the game—which ended with the bases loaded for New Virginia.
A.J. Barber would score three times for GSN, while Gary Bonanno and Rich Thompson each added a triple.
