GSN left looking for answers in second
consecutive 12-0 defeat |
(AP) - People say that lightning never strikes the same place twice.
The Gentle Shepherd softball team would beg to differ with that statement,
however.
Coming off one of the worst performances in recent history against
a mediocre White Chapel squad, GSN backed it up with yet another disturbing
display at the plate in game one against Lebanon A. The contest
remained close through four complete innings with Lebanon holding on to a
2-0 advantage. The visitors would pull away in the fifth, however, as
"The Kids" struggled mightily on offense. Five of the seven innings
saw GSN send the minimum of three batters to the plate—marked
by three frames in which the home team went down 1-2-3 and two in which
double plays by Lebanon A erased the lead runner from first base.
Bill Steiner and Tim Vass each had a pair of hits for Gentle
Shepherd in a losing effort.
