Lack of productivity at plate continues to
plague GSN |
(AP) - Gentle Shepherd hoped to turn around their recent softball fortunes
in game two of their match-up against Good Shepherd. Simply put, their
wish would not be granted.
GSN kept things close through the first three innings—after
which they found themselves trailing by a single run at 1-0.
From there, however, "The Kids" watched as Good Shepherd exploded to push
the margin to 13-0 after batting in the first half of the fifth inning.
A courageous effort to continue play saw GSN score five runs and send nine
batters to the plate in the bottom half of the fifth. Good Shepherd
would wrap things up in the sixth with the help of the mercy rule, though, by tallying five more runs
and pushing the final score to 18-5.
For the game, A.J. Barber and Frank Powell reached base safely on
each at-bat. Gary Bonanno went the distance on the hill for "The
Kids", who are winless this year when giving up 10 or more runs in a game.
GSN fell to 1-5 on the season and hopes to regroup with two games a piece
against both New Virginia and West Middlesex next week. |
