GSN fizzles after quick start, falls to First Assembly
(AP) - Going into their first game on Tuesday with First Assembly at Trinity Field, GSN was looking to prove that they could compete with one of 2002's premiere teams.  After one inning against the team that had posted a 21-5 mark the previous year, "The Kids" were starting to think they could possibly pull off an upset.  Someone simply forgot to mention that the game must be played for the full seven innings.
GSN's first five hitters crossed home plate in the first inning—staking Gentle Shepherd to an early, but short-lived 5-0 lead.  A series of mental mistakes and errors on defense led to "the Kids'" demise, however, as First Assembly tallied 13 unanswered runs up through the sixth inning—highlighted by five run totals in each of the third and fifth frames.  With the game's outcome basically decided while trailing 13-5 in the bottom of the seventh, GSN was able to put four more runs on the board.
Gentle Shepherd was led at the plate by Gary Bonanno's three hitstwo of which were triples.  Defensively, the right-handed fielding A.J. Barber filled in admirably at first base while keying a pair of force-out plays at second.
