BYTE 4:
Day 10: St. Moritz, Switzerland.
ASSIGNMENT 3: RAPPELLING (Al, Elavia, Bribs, Heather, Darwin)
Five players, one who is trusted and four who just want to hang out. The
four who just want to hang out will rappel four questions from a dam,
whose answers will make a combination for which Al must use to unlock
$35,000.
1) # of players knocked into the water by Little John minus # of
players knocked into the water by Little John. Bribs says 4-Blue.
2) Day of the month Bribs was born minus day of the month Al was born.
Heather says 9-Red.
3) Swinging from bridge minus bullseyes with arrows. This is from the
first day. Elavia says 2-Yellow on a GUESS.
4) Age of second executed (Ali) minus age of first executed (Bob). Darwin
gets his finger caught in the binding, which cost him a chance to see the
blue and red questions. 2-Green, 1-Yellow are his answers.
So the combination is 9 2/1 4
2. But does Al trust them? Anderson gives him the questions to think over.
He changes Bribs' answer to 0, goes with Darwin's answer and trusts
Heather's answer. His combination is 9 1 0 2. But is it right?
No. Correct combination: 8 1 0 1. Heather and Darwin were wrong.
LOSS: $0 added ($91,000 total)
Anderson fills the group in on their next location, Venezia... Yep,
Venice, Italy, where the team absorbs the experience. On the bus ride to
the hotel, Patrick asks Al about his strategy, to which Al responds
"Don't waste your breath." Seems like some people can't let go
of the game.
The team gets a telegram:
WELCOME TO ITALY. STOP.
HOT WEATHER. HOTTER GAME. STOP.
READY FOR ANOTHER HELPING? STOP.
LA TALPA.
A clue? Maybe.
Before they get to the Villa Trento for the next game, the players face a
daunting task: changing an Italian woman's tire. Patrick and Rob volunteer
their services. They're on their road not more than a little while before
they stop for gas, and another woman with a flat tire comes up. Darwin and
Al decide to help out.
They arrived at the Villa Trento for what they thought were the next game.
But it turns out...
ASSIGNMENT 4: MORALITY GAME (Darwin, Patrick, Rob, Al)
WIN: $30,000 added. ($121,000 total).
The clue in the telegram was "Ready for another helping." The
point was to help the people in trouble. Now onto the next game. No,
really.
ASSIGNMENT 5: DUMB VERSUS SMART
A group of smart people (Dorothy, Rob, Bill) and a group of dumb people
(Katie, Patrick, Myra). The dumb people must choose five out of 11
brainteasers for the smart people to figure out. If they manage not to
figure out any, the dummies get exemptions.
The smarties get through #1 with no problem (18 gallons). So the dummies
get no exemption. Teaser #2 was the algebra problem from hell ($9), but
they get it on the second try. #3 and #4 also are no problem.
#5: FILMNRESSSSSTTUU. One word. What is it? Dorothy's first inkling was
incorrect. Dorothy's second inkling is right. See if you can figure it out
before I get to the end of this recap. Meanwhile, everyone seems to think
that Dorothy may be suspicious because of her last-minute bursts of
knowledge (Katie: "I didn't even know (answer to #5) was a
word!"). But the bottom line: the smarties get an exemption. And the
team gets...
WIN: $50,000 added ($171,000 total).
Back at the hotel, Katie noticed pages missing from her journal which once
belonged to Patrick.
Day 11: Venice, Italy.
Patrick comes out about using deceitful means to stay in the game. Darwin
seems to think that that sort of thing will dissolve the group trust.
THE QUIZ:
1) How many exemptions have the Mole received?
2) The Mole answered the question at which flag during the Rappelling
game?
3) Did the Mole wear a necklace during the last execution dinner?
4) What is the Mole's favorite color?
5) What color eyes does the Mole have?
6) What role did the Mole have during the Dumb v. Smart game?
7) How long does it take the mole to get ready
8) Did the Mole feed the pigeons
9) Where was the Mole born?
10) WHO IS THE MOLE?
EXECUTION 4: Player who scores least will be forced to leave the game.
Remember, Dorothy, Bill, and Rob are all exempted, leaving the remaining
seven up for grabs. But FIRST, Patrick's page ripping costs the team
$5000.
FINE: $5000 subtracted ($166,000 total)
Elavia - GREEN
Bribs - GREEN
Heather - GREEN
Myra - GREEN
Darwin - GREEN
Katie - GREEN
Which can only mean...
Patrick - RED
Man, I would've put money on that one. Anyway, Patrick's attempt was
in vain. "I'm disappointed, but not surprised." The team
thinks that him distancing himself from the team cost him in the end.
---
Well, originally, I was going to say that Patrick and Dorothy emerged from
suspect to prime suspect. But, since Patrick was executed today. Dorothy
stands alone. Her sudden smarts and Lisa's suspicions make her one to
watch.
*The correct answer is MISTRUSTFULNESS.
