CHALLENGES Challenge #1: Freefall.
All ten members of the group must skydive from 10,000 feet. If all
ten accomplish the feat, they win $75,000. Challenge #2: ATM Challenge.
The group is shown 10 video monitors with information about each
player. After 15 minutes, the group must choose two of its own to complete the challenge. They select
Afi and Kathryn. The challenge: They have two hours to solve
an equation about each player based on their information, then sum up all
the results to form a PIN number. This pin number will help the
contestants withdraw 500 francs from a local ATM...which, by the way,
they'll also have to find based on a map. If they need or want help
from anyone else, they'll be penalized 15 minutes for each additional
player. Fine: Discussion during ATM
Challenge. Prior to the ATM challenge, the remaining 8
players were instructed not to discuss the information on the screens in
case they get called in to the room. Wendi & Charlie did discuss
this information, so the group is fined $10,000. Episode 2 (airdate 1/16/2001) Challenge #3: Abducted!.
Anderson shows the group a short video from Steven. They must
find him within two hours to win $50,000. They will also get one
30-second phone call for hints. Any additional phone calls will cost
$5,000. The group splits into three subgroups: 2 in a
helicopter, 3 in a van, and 3 in a boat. Jen & Henry go to the
chopper; Kate, Wendi, & Charlie head for the water; and Jim, Afi, and
Kathryn hit the road. Challenge #4: Cartier
Challenge. They split
into subgroups again: 3 leaders, 3 followers, and 3 people with
"good eyes": Henry, Kathryn, and Kate. This third
group gets 2 Cartier watches. One is real, the other fake.
They must determine in 2 hours which is the fake one. They can
use any resources in the town of Crest, but can't bring the watches
themselves with them. Challenge #5: Cornfield Maze.
The followers will be guided through the maze by leaders who
have a birds-eye view of the course from outside. Each follower who
makes it through the maze earns $20,000. Simple, right? Not so
fast....two guards are trying to stop them...and if they do, they're
out. Episode 3 (airdate 1/23/2001) Challenge #6: Bullfight!
The group must fight a bull by getting it to go through their cape
twice. If they then can also get a "tienta" by getting the
bull's back end to touch the ground in a bullfight, they earn a bonus of
$5,000 each. All 8 must do at least the first part of the challenge
to earn $50,000. Challenge #7: Laundry.
Three members of the group must wash a load of laundry for each of the 8
contestants. One catch: they must do each load of laundry in a
different place, and be done by 6 pm for $10,000 Challenge #8: Dice Game.
The remaining 5 must complete a series of challenges, and a roll of the
dice determines whether they will do a "simple" task or an
"uncomfortable" one. IIf three of them complete their
challenges, and the fifth does ALL 4 of them, they win $80,000. If
only one of those two occurs, they win $40,000. The fifth player
also earns immunity from the next execution if they do all four. Episode 4 (airdate 1/30/2001) Challenge #9: Rescue!
Kate has been left in a church, handcuffed and trapped. The other
six, equipped with laser tag type sensors, must reach the church, rescue
Kate, and go to a cinema to meet Anderson and ring a bell.
Completing this is worth $30,000. The catches: Two snipers
will be trying to stop the six from reaching the church. If they're
hit, they're out. Also, all 'surviving' players must be at the
church before taking Kate to the cinema. And Kate has a laser gun to
defend herself and her team between the church and the cinema. Once
at the cinema, if SHE hits all her remaining teammates, she wins immunity,
but the team loses the challenge. Challenge #10: The Mole 101:
University of Seville. An interesting mental challenge with
eight parts, each worth $15,000. Total possible:
$120,000. The seven are split into two teams: one of four and
one of three. One catch: The group of four EARNS $15,000 for
each challenge completed; while the second group LOSES $15,000 for each
completed. One member of team 1 must find team 2 and stop them
before they lose it all. Episode 5 (airdate 2/6/2001) Challenge #11: Where Will YOU
Spend the Night? The six remaining players divide into three
groups: a smart group (Jim & Jennifer), a resourceful group
(Kathryn & Steven), and a stupid group (Kate & Charlie). Two
of the three groups must find the hotel within a certain period of time in
order to complete the challenge for $40,000. They get a little help
-- the stupid group earns a free pass. The smart group gets a
"smart car" and a cell phone, and must use a series of clues to
find the hotel location. The resourceful group gets pictures to
guide them, and several different ways to get there -- most notably, a
broken-down vehicle. One twist (of course): the dumb group can
double the pot if they can stop the smart group, but the resourceful group
still makes it. Plus, only four beds are available. Challenge #12: Who Do You
Love? Simple -- Six players, six loved ones, six facts.
Match them up, win $5,000 for each right answer, and see your loved
one. Episode 6 (airdate 2/13/2001) Fine: Leaving Room After
Curfew. After being told to retire to their rooms for the night,
Jim, Kathryn, and Steven all congregate in one room. Fined
$20,000.
Challenge #13: Defending the
Fort Save the bowl; outsmart The Mole. The contestants
must defend a bowl in the center of a fort from aggressors from sundown to
sunup to win $60,000. Challenge #14: Need a ride?
Find ride tickets for a carriage ride in books in a public library; then
find the appropriate carriage stops and board one at a time. There
are 8 stops and 5 players. Episode 7 (airdate 2/20/2001) Challenge #15: Sheep, Sheep
Everywhere! Two members (Charlie & Steve) have one hour to
herd 751 sheep ($20,000), and count them ($10,000). Challenge #16a: I'm An
Artiste! Two members (Kathryn & Jim) have three hours to
create an original piece of artwork. If an art critic can pick out
their artwork from among a set of other abstract pieces, they win
nothing. If the critic doesn't pick correctly, they win
$20,000. Challenge #16b: Everyone's A
Critic! Now Charlie & Steve must pick out the right piece
for $20,000. Challenge #17: Who Do You
Trust? Each player lists from top to bottom the player they'd
most like to see executed, and the player they'd most like to see stay in
the game. The player more people wanted to see stay is chosen as the
"most trustworthy". This player is Steven. Steven
then must convince the other 3 to do potentially risky tasks. In a
convoluted scoring scheme, exemptions and money can both be handed out. Episode 8 (airdate 2/27/2001) Challenge #18: Who Do You
Choose? Using a series of three questions, two team members must
find the third by answering those questions correctly. But, they are
personal questions which really have no right answer, and must choose one
player over another. Each "find" is worth $10,000. Challenge #19: Let Me Outta
Here! This is a big one for the finale - worth $75,000 to the
group pot. All three players are locked in a hotel -- they must help
one another to get out. Each has clues to the other's room
combination. LAST UPDATE: FEBRUARY 28, 2001 |
