DAY 29: BLAME IT ON THE RAIN
"Last night was really emotional," says Shii Ann, as dreary as the
rainstorm she's strolling in today. She mentioned the old Chapera was
"Pagonging" the old Mogo Mogo out of business. Kathy was Shii Ann's
rock...and, now that Kathy's gone, Shii Ann feels she has no friends
left.
She confides in Bahstin Rob, asking if he's going to stay with his
"original six" (himself, Amber, Alicia, Rupert, Big Tom and Jenna) and
he says yes. Shii Ann says she's cool with that and vows to get
Immunity. She tells Rob that she'll be shocked if Rob makes the Final
Two. Of course, Rob has to tell his "original six" about this.
REWARD CHALLENGE: A MATTER OF TRUST
"A no-lose situation?
This one is not a race.
Is everyone a winner?
Try not to lose face.
In touch with your feelings?
What do your tribemates think?
If you're the last one standing,
You'll decide what you eat and drink"
Everyone thinks it's either a "food challenge"...or that the challenge
will be FOR food. Needless to say, since the rain has prevented
fishing and cooking, everyone's hoping on the latter.
When we arrive at Uncle Jeff's hideaway, we spy big masks of each
remaining Survivor. The first part of the Reward Challenge is a
questionaire to show just how the tribe members feel about each other.
The tribe gets their questionaire and fills them out without revealing
to anyone else their answers.
The SECOND part is sort of like Family Feud. The players have to
decide how they think the majority of them answered the same question.
Get it right, chop a tribe members rope. Three chops and a battering
ram shatters their mask...and that player is out. Last one standing
gets reward.
Here's where it gets tricky. See, all SEVEN of them will be brought to
a Panamanian restaurant where the menu has seven items, ranging from a
bowl of rice to a full steak and shrimp dinner. The WINNER determines
what each person gets! And no sharing is allowed!
The first question: "Who would you trust with your life?" The answer:
Rob. Alicia and Jenna get it right, chopping Amber and Tom
respectively. The group feels that Shii Ann and Alicia didn't deserve
to be an All-Star...and everyone got either one. When the chopping is
done for that, Big Tom is gone.
"Who uses sex appeal as a weapon?" The majority thought Amber...and
every SAYS Amber (at least she owned up to it). Everybody strikes
again...and all the ladies but Amber are KOed, leaving her, Rob and
Rupert. "Who is under the false assumption that they're smart?"
Nobody gets Alicia. "Who is the most honest?" Rob thought himself,
but both Amber and Rupert say "Rupert" and are right. Amber chops Rob
a second time...and Rupert puts him away.
It's down to Amber and Rupert. If Rupert gets one right, Amber is
gone. Amber's gotta get THREE right and hope Rupert stumbles. "Who
never shuts up?" They both say "Jenna"...and they're both right.
Rupert chops Amber's rope, the mask shatters, and Rupert's the table
captain at dinner tonight!
AFTERNOON 29: HARD FOR ME TO SAY I'M SORRY
Alicia's ego has taken a mighty blow from the challenge. She doesn't
like being "undeserving" of being there. Jenna replies, "If it helps,
I'M a 'big mouth." It doesn't help; she resents being blasted like
that. Jenna seems to think that kind of attitude will just get you
dumped faster.
As for dinner, Rupert (the most honest) gets confronted by Jenna about
quite possibly the TRIBE getting to choose instead of himself. Rupert
is wishing he never won the challenge...because whoever gets the rice
will be hating him big time. Jenna just coaches him towards giving
their four-way alliance the best.
NIGHT 29: EAT IT
To the Romantico restaurant we go. The surf & turf dinner with open
bar is Rupert's, but the others go where he says. They are: rice and
well water, cold chopped potatoes and tap water, salad and COLD tap
water, ham-and-cheese sandwich with lemon-water, hot dog and saurkraut
with OJ and a cheesburger and fries with soda.
Rupert follows Jenna's idea and lets the players choose. Rob chooses
the burger and fries, Jenna the hot dog, Amber the sandwich, Alicia the
salad (which she says she would have taken anyway...uh huh)...and Big
Tom takes the taters, leaving Shii Ann with the rice ("Sure, leave the
Asian girl with the rice", Shii Ann says).
During the dinner, Rob is questioning the politics behind Rupert's
decisions...and Shii Ann is drooling over everybody else's meal and
yapping about how "good" her rice is. Rupert can't even look up at
everyone, getting beer after beer (with everyone staring as he chugs
one) until he become wasted. He even licks his plate...ick! Everyone
lays their heads on their rolled-up napkins and lets Rupert guzzle
away, not wanting to return to the camp.
DAY 30: THEN THE MORNING COMES
The sun is out, the birds are chirpping and Rob is OPENLY proclaiming
that Shii Ann is history. This, of course, means that Shii Ann NEEDS
immunity...and BADLY! She confides in Rupert, who doesn't feel he's in
trouble with the vote. Little does he realize that Big Tom and Alicia
are considering it. Alicia and Tom make their OWN little sub-alliance.
"We may not have slept together," says Tom, "but we've snuggled a few
times." Alicia has a deal already with Rob...but doesn't trust him.
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: THE LONGEST TIME
It's the "Endurance Challenge" that pops up every season. The
Survivors will stand on a stump and each raise a hand over their head.
The hand is tethered to a big bucket of water. Anyone who lowers their
hand gets wet and gets gone. Last one left dry wins Immunity.
Everyone gets locked in and the challenge starts. A mere 4 minutes
later, Amber is soaked. Jenna gets soaked 6 minutes later, though she
SWEARS she didn't move. Big Tom struggles at the 16-minute mark and
gets drenched. Jenna mentions that they give no secret as to who they
want out: Shii Ann.
The clouds roll in, the wait passes 30 minutes and both Rupert and
Alicia start to show some signs of pain. Alicia is the next to
drop...but gets Jeff soaked in the process. The rain then starts to
fall...and, for a half-hour, the players get soaked WITHOUT droppingn
their buckets. Shii Ann has barely moved an inch in the hour since the
challenge started. She again notes how much she NEEDS this win.
Then, at 84 minutes, Rob goofs up. In trying to blow a mosquito away
and lick at the bite it left behind, he pulls his chain...and gets
wet...er, wetter. It's down to Rupert and Shii Ann...and Rupert shakes
his head at the tribe, thinking he's not going to outlast Shii Ann.
Two hours...the rain drops more and more. Neither wants to concede.
Rupert's in pain...Shii Ann feels all right. Finally, Rupert can't
hold on any longer. He lets his hand droop, the water dunks him...and
Shii Ann wins the Immunity she SO needed! Alicia tells her not to get
too cocky about it.
TRIBAL COUNCIL: SHADDAP YOU FACE!
Shii Ann apologizes for her excitement. But she can't help but gloat
to the camera that no one bothered to make deals with her before she
got Immunity. She tells Rupert to take out Rob tonight. Rob is not
sure which foursome to stick with...but he's sure himself that Alicia
is out of here...or himself. Shii Ann stirs the pot by talking to
Amber...who says that, even if she lies to Rob he'd still trust her.
That give a bit of the game plan away.
To the Treehouse O' Doom we go. Lex and Kathy are back to be the jury.
Uncle Jeff tells Shii Ann that she was very vocal...and she admits it,
since she's fighting against them. Rupert says that someone ELSE needs
the Immunity...and it's HIM. Alicia says the original Chapera is
getting strong, but knows that it's "game on" once it's down to six.
Shii Ann claims that no one wants to be tribal leader this time;
everyone is playing their own game...and Jenna resents that. Rob says
he's giving his best and has been strong all day...but he's nervous
about the vote. Shii Ann doesn't want to give Immunity away so...
It's time to vote. First Amber, then Rupert, then Jenna, Big Tom,
Alicia, Shii Ann and, finally, Rob (who votes for Alicia and tells her
"see ya later").
The votes are read...and, again, it's not even close. By a six-to-one
vote (the one being Rupert), Alicia is gone! She says, "Somebody
turned their back on me and I think I know who it is." Her torch is
snuffed...and she and her mouth is gone. Jeff says she never saw it
coming...
