Jerri complains (as usual), only THIS time it's about the recent run of wet weather. Kathy, oddly enough, agrees. But HEr beef is that the wood is too wet to set on fire.

But news comes in Tree-Mail which lifts EVERYONE up:
"Today you may improve your way of life;
It's just a mean to the ends
It may be a battle royale
Or you just might make some friends."

Shii Ann automatically thinks "merge". They also get some paint...which Jerri tells the others not to put on their face. Lex decides not to put it on at ALL. Everyone else decides the same.

AFTERNOON 22: SWITCH (Jimmy Smits)

We arrive on the beach with a well-painted Chapera tribe. Uncle Jeff notes that Chapera is painted and Mogo Mogo is not. Bahstin Rob agrees with Jeff that it's a sign of unity among them. Kathy says they DIDN'T paint themselves because they were "conserving".

Jeff tells us to order up. Once orders are set, Jeff tells Lex, #1 for Mogo Mogo to pick a Chapera member to have a one-to-one chat with. He chooses Rob. #1 from Chapera, Big Tom, choose Jerri to chat with. Shii Ann picks Rupert and Alicia automatically gets Kathy.

Jeff gives each pairing (including the two girls left over from Chapera a little snack lunch and tells us to converse with each other about how things have been going lately. The pairs head off to different parts of the beach, open their lunches (fruit, cheese and crackers) and chat. Shii Ann spills about what she thinks of her tribemates to Rupert, Jerri confides in Big Tom about how the game is testing her spirit, Lex tells Rob he's ready for a merge...and we don't see what Alicia and Kathy spoke about.

After the chats, we return as one. Jeff says, "Drop your Buffs". Everyone (including me) feels the merge is on. Jeff brings a jar over and tells Lex to reach in and grab a new Buff. Would it be blue? Grey? Black? A rich mauve or a soothing taupe?

It's...red? But...that's Chapera's color! Jeff tells Lex, "You are now a member of Chapera. What, did you think you were mergin'?!" Jerri laughs...but not to many others are.

So the NEW Mogo Mogo consists of Bahstin Rob, Big Tom, Rupert, Alicia and Jenna. That's right: ALL of the previous Mogo Mogos went to Chapera, and five Chaperas are the new Green Machine. But there's more: all the stuff at the camps now BELONG to the new tribes, including the food (though not the clothes and personal effects). After hugs by all, the new (and EVEN) tribes march to their new homes.

(*sighs in relief* Great! I got RID of those losers once and for all! And, Chico, this makes it WORTH cleaning your limo!)

LATE AFTERNOON 22: A NEW HOPE

The only thing the new tribe had to look forward to when they returned was the basket of fruit and wine waiting for us. The home built by the old Mogo Mogo was habitable, but a FAR cry from the "lap of luxury" THEY were used to. They decide to just make the roof better, clean up...and PRAY the merger happens REAL soon.

The food does little for their spirits. They gave up everything and were left with less than nothing. Alicia, though, thinks that the new Chapera will see what they were missing, will realize how good life was...and that'll dishearten them. (Don't see HOW it'll be disheartening, since THEY're now living the life of Reilly!)

Of course, the one MOST bummed is Rob...because his "significant something-or-other" Amber was the only Chapera member to STAY at Chapera. It kills him that Amber is surrounded by the "enemy" and wishes he could be there to stick up for her. They drink a toast to her, though, certain that she'll make it. It bothers Rob all through the night.

DAY 23: (not shown...don't know why...just move on, people)

DAY 24 - IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: HISOTRY OF THE (SURVIVOR) WORLD: PART I

"Mike fell in a fire; Susan's "rats" and "snakes"
Ghandia screamed, "You're way too close";
The Amazin women had what it takes
Seven countries later, 112 have played the game
How well you know your history determines who will remain."

Obviously, it's the Trivial Pursuit(TM) of "Survivor", dating all the way back to Borneo and up to Pearl Islands. The tribe does their best to toss their toughest questions to each other to bone up. Rob vows to keep his promise to Amber and help her get as far as possible...no matter the consequences.

So in a secluded jungle setting, we meet Uncle Jeff. Indeed the challenge is trivia about Survivors 1 through 7. The questions are drawn at random and the tribes must confer on one answer. First to ten right answers win immunity and are guarenteed a spot on the jury...assuming the rules for jury still apply...which I'M not even sure of now.

Both tribes knew Sarah's arrival in the Marquesas was "like Cleopatra" and that Brandon and Frank saw "Out of Africa" as a reward. But Chapera knew Survivor: Africa was in the country of Kenya, not the country of "Nairobi" as Mogo Mogo says. So Chapera goes up 3-to-2. (Ut oh...) BUT Mogo Mogo knows that bug larve was eaten at the first "food challenge"; "grubs" don't cut it for Chapera. So it's tied at 3. (whew!)

Both tribes knew Dr. Shawn used the "alphabet strategy" for voting, that Mike Scupin had to be airlifted out of the Outback for falling into a campfire, that Paschal chose the wrong stone as a tie-breaker in the Marquesas, that Clay was choked by Rob Z. in a Thailand challenge, that Darrah was the "Morticia" of Pearl Islands and that Osten had to be saved during a water challenge in the Pearl Island. They stay tied all the way to 9-9.

The next question: What was Kel accused of smuggling into the Outback by his tribe? Chapera laughs about this before writing it down confidently. Mogo Mogo remain silent. They both come up with beef jerky, making it a 10-10 tie.

It's time for sudden death. The tribes are given 30 seconds to write down the first person voted off each Survivor in order. Chapera says Sonya, Deb, Diane, Peter, John, Ryan and Kim. All but Kim are right. Mogo Mogo says Sonya, Deb, Diane, Peter, John, Ryan and Nicole. Having Rupert made the difference; he KNEW who was voted off first in Pearl Islands. Different tribe but same people...and same results: they win immunity!

TRIBAL COUNCIL: LOVE'S LABORS LOST?

It's a bittersweet symphony, this life. That's what Mogo Mogo is thinking. By saving their OWN asses, they may have spelled doom to Amber...since she's the only original Chapera left. Rob told Lex before they departed that the Bahstin native would be in Lex's debt if he helped save Amber. He is MAJOR bummed. He even marked his arm with an "A" for her.

The "Godfather" move must've worked, though. Everyone FINALLY gets rid of whiny Jerri instead of Amber! And Lex saved himself from having a horse's head on his pillow when (and IF) the merge comes along.
