For 39 days, 16 castaways were stranded
in Asia. Every 3 days on the island became a 1-hour
show. The first contestant
eliminated pockets $25,000. Each successive eliminated contestant
wins more money, through the next-to-last Survivor, who receives
$100,000. The final Survivor wins a million dollars!

DAY 19: S.O.B. (OR, IN THIS CASE, JUST THE 'B.')
It's another tequila sunrise...well, OK, coffee sunrise. The birds are
sining, the surf is pounding...and Jerri is complaining. She groans
about sleeping on the "rack", the lean-to on the top level of the "tree
house" they built and doesn't feel like doing much work today.
Shii Ann thinks this is poor of her acting like such a
rhymes-with-witch...and Colby, Jerri's tribemate from the Outback,
couldn't agree more. This is the SAME strategy and attitude she used
three years ago...and it makes the other tribemates want to vote her
out even more. Jerri KNOWS she's being talked about behind her
back...but she ALSO knows that everyone is underestimating her. She
ain't as "zen-like" as people think.
REWARD/IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: PICKING UP THE PIECES
An interesting puzzle shows up in our Tree-Mail. We assume it's a
Reward Challenge...but Once put together, it reads:
"Living on the island you need the ocean to survive
Be the first to master the sea, three more days you'll stay alive.
Extra consequence if you move too slow
Be the last to finish and be the next to go.
An Immunity Challenge?! What about the merge?!
So we head to Challenge Beach to meet Chapera. The challenge is a
floating puzzle out in the sea. Tribe members, one at a time, will
swim out to untie pieces floating nearby. The puzzle becomes a large
boat, which will then be latched to keep the pieces together and rowed
to the shore with four paddles. Once ON shore, one tribe member runs
into the jungle to a giant palm tree and cuts a rop, raising their flag
and releasing two more paddles. They run back and paddle back to the
platform. First one back wins.
Then Uncle Jeff informs us that there IS a reward! The winning tribe
has a party boat barbecue for the whole day, complete with open bar and
desserts! But it is ALSO an Immunity Challenge; the losing tribe goes
to Tribal Council...TONIGHT! *gulp* Oh,...one more thing: the WINNERS
get to choose one of the LOSERS to JOIN them! Not only does that loser
get to feast, but S/HE is immune from being voted off as well!
After some strategy on order, we head out to the platform. Jerri
starts off for us, diving right in...but Bahstin Rob runs out on the
boat and gets a huge lead on her. Rob easily gets the first piece
ouh-nooked...but Jerri has issues with it. By the time she gets it
unhooked, Rob's already back at base. Big Tom gets his piece out
before Shii Ann hits the water. Alicia widens the lead for Chapera,
swimming back before Shii Ann can even tag in Colby.
Colby DOES make up a little ground, swimming back before Rupert could
dive in. Kathy tries to make up more ground, but Jenna dives in for
the fifth piece before Kathy makes it back. Jenna has issues with
unhooking the piece, but not enough as she heads back while Ethan dives
in. Amber is last Chapaera, and she has a bit of a lead over Lex. But
Lex closes the gap even more as they race back with their last pieces.
Now we just hope Chapera has the same luck at puzzle building as they
did when they tried to build that cube some time ago. And,
fortunately, they do. Mogo Mogo has no problem getting their boat
together...while Chapera look like the Three Stooges Times Two in their
pursuit. Ethan, however, breaks the paddle after using it to hammer in
a brace. Still, three-and-a-half paddles will have to do. The six hop
on board and head out, leaving Chapera in their wake. But Chapera
kicks off the dock before all THEIR braces are secure.
It's a tight race to the shore. We hit our pole first and Ethan takes
off like a shot. Ten seconds later, Rob is on his heels. Ethan makes
it to the tree and raises the flag, but has some difficulty getting the
paddles off. Rob raises Chapera's flag and starts untying HIS paddles.
Back at shore, the teams wonder who's going to emerge from the woods
first...and it's Rob! Chapera is off to the platform, ten seconds
behind Mogo Mogo. It becomes an outrigger race to the platform, and
Mogo Mogo is in perfect unison, passing Chapera's boat.
Suddenly, we veer off course for some reason! Chapera forges ahead as
we straighten out! At that point, the race is over, Chapera rows their
boat to the dock and destroys us...AGAIN!
So Chapera gets the BBQ on a 90-foot yacht...and they decide, after a
bit of a discussion, to drag Kathy along for the ride. And Mogo Mogo
will have FOUR people leaving Tribal Council tonight...and one leaving
for good.
(I'll let Chico describe Kathy's experience on the boat; I'll stick
with the tribe as a whole)
AFTERNOON 19: WHAT HAPPENED WAS...
Everyone is disappointed...hugely! And no sooner do they return to
Camp Mogo Mogo when Ethan apologizes for "screwing up" and takes
responcibility for the loss. He's pretty much saying, "Go ahead and
vote for me." Lex tries to get him to talk it out, but Ethan feels he
might be the poor shnook to leave.
While Chapera and Kathy have dessert at an oasis (and Kathy wonders why
she can't have fun anymore), Jerri seems to think everyone is stressed
after the failure at the challenge. Shii Ann is sick of Jerri, only
wanting to do the chores others are already doing. Jerri even snapped
at her for putting "rotten" coconut meat into the frying pan to cook.
Colby is annoyed by BOTH of their attitudes and can't decide which to
toss.
While the winners whack golf balls into the ocean and Kathy becomes a
snitch, Ethan feels insecure...and pushes Colby the idea of voting off
Jerri. Colby says he already has his "vote-writing" speech down for
when he votes for her. The pitch the idea to Lex, but he's undecided.
He then walks WITH Jerri and lets her know of the others' plan to ditch
her. HE wants Colby gone instead and feels he can get Shii Ann to
agree...and Jerri can live with that.
But Shii Ann can't see why Jerri can't go. Of course, she doesn't TELL
Lex that when he pitches the idea of voting Colby off to her. She is
sure (and correct) she is the swing vote; her decision will decide who
gets dumped!
TRIBAL COUNCIL: SWING KIDS
So Mogo Mogo sans Kathy arrive at Uncle Jeff's Tree House of the Damned
for the big event. Ethan again takes responcibilty for the screw-up.
Colby agrees about the tribal animosity, not looking forward to any
kind of merge with Chapera. Lex says they're looking forward to a
merge and says he's alreayd looking for possible threats in his own
tribe.
Jerri says she'll vote for her biggest threat, but Colbt disagrees, not
wanting to lose more strong players and allow Chapera to win more
challenges. Shii Ann thinks she and Jerri may be the weakest
physically, but she hates to think that's what the vote will be all
about. Jerri doesn't feel like a weak link herself. Shii Ann thinks
Colby is the strongest physically...and Colby DOESN'T feel secure about
it.
It's time to vote. Ethan starts with a vote for Jerri, calling her
"two-faced". Lex votes for Colby, sayong he's taking advantage of a
situation. Colby just shows his vote for Jerri, Jerri gets her
"revenge vote" for Colby...and, at last, the swing vote. We don't see
Shii Ann's vote, but she says, "You have underestimated my powers!"
Uncle Jeff tallies and brings the votes out. The first four votes, of
course, are for Jerri and Colby. Then we find out Shii Ann's vote:
COLBY! (Well, he was right about being vulnerable, I guess.) Colby's
torch is snuffed and he splits...much to Jerri's DEEP relief!
But wait until we return to camp and Kathy sees Colby has been
dumped...she'll FREAK, I'm sure.
