Day 28: Saved By The Bell: The Amazonian Class.

It's story time with Uncle Chico. Once, there was a group of ants, a group of grasshoppers, and one sort of mosquito mutant thing that we really don't know what the hell he is. Anyway, the ants... for all intensive purposes, we'll name them Heidi, Jenna, and Alex, and Rob the Mosquito are lying in the sun basking in the glow of their own power as the dominant alliance. "One of those guys are going to get fired if they don't catch fish. They are falling behind on chores around here as well." He spends the entire day thinking of something witty to say and this is the best he can come up with?

Then there are the ants -- Christy, Butch, and Matthew -- making use of their time getting firewood for the approaching winter. And 28 days on, we ARE getting close to winter. Matthew is getting a bit more than peeved, as he and the other two decide that the age-old jokes of Rob's quips and Jenna's fashion sense are coming to fruition. "I find their behavior to be incomprehensible," Matthew notes.

But during all the conflict of interest, there is some serious nagging at Jenna's head. Almost incredibly fitting in with the great Burnett's plan (you'll see what I mean later), Jenna begins talking about life at home. "I think about my family often, but it helps to have a core group of people here to help take your mind off of your family." And Heidi also begins talking about Jenna's life at home. "Her mom is battling cancer." Pretty serious stuff, as Jenna is reeling inside out about it.

Almost instantaneously, the mail comes:

"Easy come, easy go.
You're invited to come and play.
You will compete
To get some treats,
But soon the offer goes away."

But I ask you, fair reader, what's better? A poem from the hand of God, or...

(Girlish squeals)

... $500?

R-CHALLENGE: Auction.

It's your standard Survivor auction. You bid on treats. Some are covered by Jeff. Others out in the open. Bidding will end suddenly, and without notice. Heidi nabs some chocolate cake and some cheesecake. Jenna gets the prize meal that reduced two castaways (herself and Heidi) to their bare essentials, peanut butter and chocolate. Matt gets a burger and fries.

#3 moment: Butch gets a three-course breakfast, complete with a portable bed and pillows!

#2 moment: Alex drops a hefty sum for a mystery item, and then gets the opportunity to trade it for yet another mystery item. He passes on some luscious lasagna for what? A plate full of manioc. But afterwards, he gets a steak dinner as a side item.

#1 moment: Jeff brings out, as a final item, a wallop: a letter from home. Jenna and Christy engage in a bidding war for their respective letters. Christy outbids Jenna for her letter, sending Christy into tears of joy and sending Jenna into... well, tears. Jeff notices and says how this is supposed to be a happy time. "Tell you what," he says. "I'll put up another letter from home up for bids. But ONLY if Christy's cool with it." She is. And Jenna drops a wad for a letter from home. I'm probably the only one who notices Jenna's woman powers at work, but what a selfish b(^_^)h!

Auction over.

Back at camp: Amazing what a letter can do.

After receiving word from a friend of Christy's ("If you're having a bad time with the hearing people, remember that there are people who love you at home.") and a relation from Jenna (good news: the cancer's in 50% remission!), Christy and Jenna choose up sides in the post-mortem of the letter wars (that one was for Hammond, now shut the hell up about it :)). Matt believed that Christy deserved that letter. "She has had a really bumpy ride, and the letter would really raise her spirits. I think that Jenna was being selfish." Hmm, Matt, you're learning! On the other hand, Jenna thinks that Christy shouldn't have outbid her for the letter, knowing of her mother's condition. You mean she KNEW?! CBS didn't show us that moment, now.

Meanwhile, fishing buddies Matt and Butch reveal that the only way to curry their own favor would be to get Rob over to their side. Little did they know that they would not have to look for their chance. Their chance would come looking for them.

(dramatic synth hits)

Day 29: Rob and Matt lay their cards out.

Alex reveals how the alliance could make it to the Final Four. Basically put, Jenna and Heidi would never vote for themselves, so Alex would put Rob up on the block. So much for alliances. Further, Alex doesn't mind if Rob votes back. Alex just wanted to be "straight-up" and honest. Well, if by straight up you mean "dumb as a brick", mission accomplished.

Meanwhile, the others receive tree mail in the form of slam books, whatever the hell they are. They are required to answer all of the questions, without showing their answers to anyone. Example: Christy thinks Alex is least deserving of winning the grand prize. And coming as a bonus, you too can be a slammer, as I include a copy of the quiz with this recap. Granted, only the questions asked are fair game and this won't really be used for anything, but if this site is known for anything, it's interactivity.

Later that day, Rob and Matt meet in secret. Rob confesses that he had been playing Matt all this time and, as a result, crucial allies were eliminated. "This is going to be the most important conversation we have ever had in this entire game." Rob then goes into detail as how Butch, Matt, and Christy would be eliminated one by one, starting with Matt, the obvious physical threat. Matt considered the options, Rob is playing textbook Survivor mentally, while Matt is obviously the physical threat. New world order according to Rob: "Me, you, Butch and Christy now need to get rid of Alex at the next Tribal Council." Matt gives "my only word that I will ever give in this game."

Enter the new string-man, Christy, as he plays the Heidi-Jenna card, saying that she was the type of kid that was teased by the Heidis and the Jennas of the world.

I-CHALLENGE: Touchy Subjects

In a tip to the nearly departed Weakest Link, the players encircle Jeff Robin-Probst... okay, that sucked... in a survey-type game utilizing the results of the slambook survey. First one to answer five correct wins the hardware. Here's what we learn:

- Butch is the most trusted.

- Jenna uses her sex appeal as a weapon. (duuh!)

- Matt is the most honest?

- Jenna would never be able to survive on heer own.

- Matt needs therapy (he even said so!)

- The Survivors would like to see Heidi posee nude (again?! Hey, I'm not complaining)

- The Survivors have a crush on Heidi (Matt once again votes for himself)

Robarino takes his game to five, and he's safe from the vote.

Day 30: Turning the other cheek?

Unaware that the game is all but over for him, Alex says to Heidi that he breathed a sigh of relief when Rob won Immunity. "It is time for Matt to go home. We are going to Tribal Council tonight and Jenna, Heidi, Rob and I have decided that Matthew is way too big of a physical threat." Alex reminds everyone that there won't be any side deals when they reach the Final Four.

Rob is still unsure how to vote. On one hand, you have three people who will vote for him should he meet the end. BUT they want him gone at the Final Four. And, if the plan goes accordingly, those three will never vote for him to win the game. Screwed either way, so...

If I can take a moment... If I was in Rob's shoes, I would break up Heidi and Jenna, because it seems like they are the core of the alliance. And if one of them goes, it raises more eyebrows than if Alex does. Alex is just the pawn. Just my 2 cents. You'll get the rest of the dollar on the "season-ending" WLTI.

Night 30: Tribal Council.

Matt, Heidi, and Alex are all assured of their place in the game. Christy thinks making it through the last few days will be a "piece of cake". Jeff marks the markings of Heidi and Jenna as a pact. But Butch rebuffs that, saying that their friendship is out in the open. Rob says the most overlooked Survivor strategy is getting to know everyone -- even the people outside your core alliance. And that's why he's in the catbird seat now. The only one who will not be surprised to be voted out is Christy. But I doubt she's going anywhere. It is... time to vote.

Matt: ALEX - "You betrayed me once, I forgave you. I can't do so again. Your reign is over." All this with a look that screams "if I catch you in real life, I'll kill ya!"

Alex: MATT(eo) - "You're too much of a physical threat. No hard feelings."

Still tied, but you probably know the outcome. Yawn. But for posterity, here it is anyway.

Heidi: MATT

Butch: ALEX

Christy: ALEX

Jenna: MATT

Rob: ALEX

Alex's ship is come, and the TRIBE HAS SPOKEN.
