'The least few days have been embarrassing' says Roger. Now that my team has blown the first immunity challenge against a bunch of girls (and I'm guessing that those events of infamy will find it's way onto a trivia question somewhere), we got rid of one of the people that cost us the first challenge - Ryan. Does this mean that things will get better?

Day 4 - So we can't win immunity challenges - we can do everything else right. The shelter is up, and we've got pancakes going on. All of the guys are working - except Daniel. We are out fishing, when a storm is brewing. It is raining buckets - but we are not concerned, because we are nice and cozy in our weird trapezoid hut. But it does do what it was meant to do - which is to keep us dry.

Once the rain has gone, we show up for our first reward challenge. We need to create a jigsaw puzzle. The pieces are scattered all over the forest. one person has to tell the rest of the other people (who will be blindfolded) where the pieces are. When all of the pieces are gathered, then you can take off your blindfolds and work on the puzzle. The team who completes the puzzle first wins the reward challenge- which is a ton of bait that will be used to catch a ton of fish.

The person who is giving out the orders is Butch - but it may as well have been Christy, the deaf woman. Butch is rotten at directions, as the blindfolded teams of 2 continuously bump into pieces, the wildlife, and each other. Its pretty sad, really, as Jaburu is more than halfway through completing the puzzle. We do eventually get all of the pieces, but it is too little too late as the women win and get the bait.

We are now 0-2 in challenges, a fact that worries Butch. 'I have to admit, I'm not accustomed to losing to women. I don't care what it is, it's just not my role...We got our asses kicked.' The rest of the team is pissed off and is talking about how they need to win immunity - everyone except Daniel, who is clearly on the outside looking in. Is there any doubt who is next if we lose Immunity this time around?

But we have another confrontation - this one on morals. Alex and Roger talked about homosexuality. Roger said that it's not natural, while Alex believes that it's not important - as long as they are not hurting anybody else. Here;s a piece of the conversation -

Roger - The sex that goes on with the men and the women - is to procreate
Alex - So what you're saying is that you've only had sex 2 times in your life - and those 2 times were with your wife?
Roger - No
Alex - Then ok, then it wasn't about procreation - sorry.

They get into a heated conversation about it and wind up ending the talk up with neither side convincing the other one. Someone was having an active interest in this conversation - Rob, the fly on the wall. 'I was really stumped with who I could get who might vote against Roger, up until this morning, when a light bulb went off in my head.' Rob's idea is to swing Alex's vote over to his side come the next tribal council vote. Can he do it? Or is the urge to get rid of the lazy Dan stronger than the urge to get rid of the bossy captain who's working? Only time will tell...

And it will tell sooner than later, because here's the tree mail for this week:

What will you remember?
For Immunity, absorb it all!
The only things that matter
Are things you can recall

Needless to say, we need to win this one. 'It feels a little do or die right now, just because we lost 2. If we drop 3 in a row, that's bad.'

And this immunity challenge is about the retention of memory. We have 2 minutes to explore a village, then we will be asked questions about the villages. Whoever gets the most questions right (out of 10) wins immunity. Our memory is put to the test? Uh oh...

Question 1 - Dave Vs. Jeanne. What color are the feathers on the rattle that came with the tree mail? Red, Yellow and Green. No score.

Question 2 - Deena Vs. Rob - How many rungs are there on the ladder? We get this one 1-0 Guys

Question 3 - Christy Vs. Butch - How many Pigs are in the pen? 9 is right - and so is Butch. 2-0, Guys

Question 4 - Jenna Vs. Alex - What was in a small bowl? Nuts to you - but not to the teams - they both get it right (3-1 Guys)

Question 5 - Janet Vs. Daniel - What were the items in the canoe? Spear and Rope, and both people who qualified to be ousted get it wrong (3-1, Guys)

Question 6 - How many hammocks are there? Heidi - 2, Matthew - 2. The answer is 2. (4-2, Guys)

Question 7 - Joanna Vs. Roger - How many pancakes are cooking? Both people get it right again (5-3 Guys)

Question 8 - What fruits are is in the kitchen? Dave and Jeanna are both right (Bananas and Pineapples) (6-4 Guys)

Question 9 - How many of the Manyot fruits are peeled? both Deena and Rob get it wrong (4) and with one question left, the women can not catch up. The guys win!

So this episode was a huge boon for the guys. Our hut stands up well against the elements, we did a little fishing, and although we didn't win the Reward Challenge, we do win immunity. Can we have this sort of effort EVERY episode? Probably for the next episode, but once we get on a roll, we'll probably slack off again. And unless Daniel can build a wrestling ring up to appease the guys, he right now better not be slacking off, period.
