Day 10: A nice cool drink of water
really hits the spot. We're marking the days on our own calendar while
some of use grab a bite to eat. Thanks to Clarence, we've only got
cornmeal. All it is is grit, really. It tastes like (bleep!) and it goes
down like (bleep!). Tom and Clarence have a plan to snag some palm
fruit. Tom's determined, I'll give you that much. After a while, Tom
climbed down and we just started throwing rocks at it. We actually got a
few down. Well, from one problem to another, we can't get the fruit opens.
All that time... and all we have is something the size of a peanut. Not
worth it. Someone get me some water.
Mail: Reward challenge in 30 minutes. "A line at a time, you have to
decide how high you can climb. If your team's better and quick like a
spider, you'll be celebrating as your bellies get wider." Spiders,
food, and climbing, it can only be...
R-CHALLENGE: Spider's Web - Food rewards
A relay race. One at a time, each player must cross a net and up a rope
web and grab all twelve food baskets. First tribe with all of them gets to
keep their succulent contents. After one heat, the tribes are tied.
Samburu stumbles MORE than once, giving us a chance to lead! This tie
seems to be forever binding, but Samburu snags their fina basket as we
snag our penultimate basket to cross the finish for the win. They get
food. We get cornmeal and whatever the hell was in that palm fruit.
We'll get'em back come immunity.
We arrived back at camp, pretty dejected. Ethan blames Kim for being slow.
"I'm glad I'm not in that situation." People are trying to
say that the best thing of all is that we gave 100%. Not here. The best
thing is to win. Lex thinks that Kim's not up to the challenge. We all
tend to agree. I mean, look at her. She's sick! Or at least she
looks it.
After the obligatory stampede shot, Tom urges animal-friendliness. Time
for him to put his idea to the test. Lex and the gang are staring face to
face with one of Africa's largest redators. Clarence doesn't want to move,
but Ethan suggests flanking left. Lex is reminding everyone to respect the
land and the dangers within.
Day 11: Mail.
"Moving like nomads means moving around.
Do well at this challenge; you may stick around.
Now if you fall behind and the other tribe wins,
It's immunity for them, and your hike to council begins."
Looks like we're about to find out what that means.
I-CHALLENGE: Nomads
The object is to move a camp from one side of a hill to another and
recreate it EXACTLY. Two members will be architects, remembering how the
camp looked before the move and making sure that identification is
important. The flagpole will be last. Out tribes starts with the hut
and manages a quick fix to the new camp. Next is the fence and the tools,
which we carry fireman's style. All that's left are the roof and the flag.
We pull a two in one and manage the victory after a few small repairs. So
Samburu hauls their collective carcass to vote tomorrow. As for us,
well... let's not let a good hut go to waste. I'm going to chill for a
bit. See you next week.
