Episode 1 (5/31/2000):  The survivors arrive on the island and get settled in.  A few squabbles arise, and most of the younger Survivors are taken aback at the older Survivors trying to take charge.  B.B.'s upset because he seems to be doing all the work in the Pagong tribe, while Richard is upset because no one is communicating in the Tagi tribe.  The first challenge, a race to light a series of torches, occurs on the second day and is for 50 waterproof matches and immunity from expulsion at the first Tribal Council meeting.  The Tagi falls behind during the challenge and loses when Sonja slips trying to get out of the water.  So their team must face the Tribal Council.  While many want to vote Rudy out of the tribe, Sonja is voted out 4-3 over Rudy due to her slip-up. (Stacey received 1 vote...from Richard.)  Sonja pockets $2500 for her three day adventure.

Episode 2 (6/7/2000):  The squabbles - and the generation gap - continue.  It gets so bad in the Pagong camp that B.B. starts wishing to go home.  And the Pagong squabbles eat up most of the hour-long show.  Then comes the challenge:  eating live creatures for immunity.  (Yes, really.)  Gervase of the Pagong tribe isn't thrilled about it, and almost loses the challenge for the tribe before it even starts.  But he finally chows down, as do all 15 Survivors.  So next comes the tiebreaker:  who can eat two more faster -- Gervase or Stacey?  Stacey does the "rapid-chew" and wins the challenge for the Tagi Tribe.  So off the Pagong Tribe goes to their first Tribal Council.  And it wasn't even close.  B.B. wished he could go home - and he got his wish.  Six of the Tribe voted him off.  Two others voted for Ramona. B.B. goes home.

Episode 3 (6/14/2000):  It's a wild three days for the Survivors.  Everyone's trying to find food...and no one can seem to.  Morale is high among the Pagong tribe, but the Tagis are still squabbling, as the generation gap is still quite evident.  But it becomes rapidly apparent that if the Tagis go back to Tribal Council, Stacey is the next one out.  A reward challenge is held, won by the Tagis, which earns them a snorkel and mask.  That's all Richard needs to spear a few fish finally for the group; while the Pagongs spear a few rats - and love every bite!  Then comes the immunity challenge - won by the Pagongs.  The Tagis brave a nasty storm to go to Tribal Council, where they do indeed vote Stacey off the island by a 5-3 vote.

Episode 4 (6/21/2000):  The storm comes to an end, leaving the Pagong camp virtually in ruins as water penetrates their shelter.  They eventually move their shelter under the canopy of the woods nearby.  The Tagis begin to form alliances in case they are forced back to Tribal Council - with half the remaining Tagis discussing voting Sean off the island, and Rudy looking less and less vulnerable. Then comes this set's Reward Challenge:  a distress signal must be set up.  Host Jeff Probst and others will view this signal from above and determine whose best captures their attention.  The winner gets a care package filled with semi-modern convenience items.  And "Tagi is Groggy" beat out a smiley-faced Pagong to win the challenge.  The Tagi tribe also won the immunity challenge, which was a relay race to un-bury a treasure chest.  So Pagong went to Tribal Council.  Ramona had picked up her pace and contributed during the past few days - seemingly making her less vulnerable.  But no one else had stumbled either - and the Tribe was very strong.  Ramona was in the end voted off 4-2-1.  (Colleen got 2 votes, Jenna 1).

Episode 5 (6/28/2000):  A somewhat uneventful episode - well, except for Greg and Colleen, who spent some of the three days "getting it on" in the woods.  But maybe it worked - as their team won BOTH the immunity challenge and the reward challenge, giving them a large fruit basket, and live chickens (hmmm...wonder how that will work out).  In the reward challenge, teams had to spear and slingshot their way to their fruit, then javelin throw at a target to take the whole fruit basket.  Sue fell just short of Joel and the team missed.  In the immunity challenge, one member of each team (Kelly vs. Gervase) had to "rescue" the rest of their team from the water via boat.  Although Kelly is an accomplished rafter and Gervase can't swim, Gervase got out to an early lead - enough to win.  So Tagi went back to Tribal Council.  It wasn't at all clear who might go - last week, the Sue-Kelly-Rich alliance looked at Sean, but this time Sean didn't even get a vote.  Dirk was voted off 4-1-1, with the other votes going to Sue and Rudy.

Episode 6 (7/5/2000):  Everyone's thinking about the merger to take place after this cycle's Tribal Council, trying to form alliances and make sure they get the most out of their current tribe once the tribes unite.  But on Pagong's mind - winning this cycle's immunity challenge so they will have a 2-person advantage once the merger occurs.  The controversy in the Pagong tribe this time is the women are accusing Gervase and Joel of being "condescending".  Gervase utters a statement comparing women to cows, and Joel is speaking verrrrrry slowwwwwly to the women, or so they believe.  The controversy over at Tagi is Rich's birthday suit.  They think he's showing it just a little too much.  The day begins with a reward challenge:  a relay race to recover items from an abandoned location.  Tagi looks like they'll win, but Rich brings out the wrong item, and Pagong wins by default another food package, including MRE's and chocolate.  Can Tagi get revenge in the immunity challenge this week after losing three straight challenges?  Only if they can win an Army obstacle course relay...and retrieve the immunity idol from an island of snakes.  And they do...but just barely.  It was possibly the closest challenge so far.  And so Pagong heads to Tribal Council, where Joel and Gervase vote for Jenna, and everyone else votes for Joel, so Joel's gone.

Episode 7 (7/12/2000):  The long-awaited merger is finally here.  But the tribes must meet to decide how the merger will take place.  Sean and Jenna meet on the sand spit as ambassadors for an overnight summit to answer the questions needed.  Interestingly, they also received a nice full dinner, and several bottles of wine, plus a nice comfortable bed for the evening.   They decided to move both tribes to Tagi Beach and rename the tribe Rattana (for Rattan with an A added).  Sean and Jenna return to Pagong Beach, where their tale of extravagance is met with apprehension.  Pagong tribe members have only five minutes to gather their personal belongings, luxury items, and three other items and head for Tagi Beach. They arrive at Tagi Beach, and everything seems friendly.  It's not really clear who's voting for who.  But we know who they won't be voting for:  the winner of the immunity challenge.  We begin with an underwater breath-holding contest.  The three who hold out the longest compete for immunity.  All five women pop up first, followed by Rudy and Rich, leaving Sean, Gervase, and Greg to compete in an underwater relay.  Well, we all know how well Gervase gets along with water.  Sean and Greg fight it out to the bitter end, but Greg just edges out Sean to win immunity.  The interesting thing is Greg still gets to vote in Tribal Council, but no one can vote for him.  Tribal Council was all over the place, as SEVEN of the nine eligible castaways get votes.  But Tagi's voting alliance secretly held true, as Kelly, Sue, Rudy, and Rich all vote for Gretchen, voting her off the island.  Rudy, Rich, Jenna, Gervase, Colleen, and Sue all got one vote each.

Episode 8 (7/19/2000):  A tough episode as the hard-working Tagi and the seemingly-slacking Pagong clash as Rattana settles in together.  Greg suspects a Tagi alliance voted Gretchen off the island, and tries to "play Rich's game" to save himself from expulsion.  But Richard knows what Greg's trying to do, and won't have any of it.  And Richard knows he's safe, because he's hauling in the fish.  Meanwhile - the castaways take part in this episode's reward challenge - another archery challenge.  Closest to the target wins the right to view a videotape sent from home and the right to send one back to America for their family.  Only one problem -- there's no tape for Jenna.  She's devastated by this, and in some of the most heartbreaking television you'll ever see, Jenna secludes herself for most of the rest of the day.  Meanwhile, Greg gets closest to the bullseye and gets to see his whole tape from his crazy sister (it really does run in the family).  But Greg might see his sister sooner than he thinks - the Tagi alliance has their sights set on him.  The immunity challenge is a rope maze race.  First to reach all five checkpoints wins.  And the winner is...Gervase.  So he's immune.  Unfortunately, that messes up Sean's voting strategy of voting off in alphabetical order.  So he goes to Greg instead.  Sean plus the Tagi alliance is 5 votes, all that's needed for expulsion.  Jenna also votes for Greg (maybe because he got to see his video?).  The others -- Colleen, Greg, and Gervase -- vote for Jenna, all saying they did because she seemed to want to go home and see her kids.  So now Tagi has a 5-3 advantage.  Can they hold on, eliminate all of Pagong, and ensure themselves a winner?

Episode 9 (7/26/2000):  Two big stories rule this episode.  One is the continuing Tagi / Pagong battle; the other centers around Rich, who not only comes to the realization that he's NOT the only one who can catch fish, but also celebrates his birthday...and his actions could be a sore point for tribal council.  Colleen, Gervase, and Jenna come to the realization that yes, there is an alliance, and maybe they should form an alliance of their own if they want to survive.  Sean, meanwhile, fesses up that his "alphabetical order" strategy isn't all unreasonable - all the Pagong members' names come first in order.  Meanwhile, Rich isn't the only fisher in the sea anymore - as the women catch a fish after much trying.  So Rich begins to feel a little vulnerable.  The reward challenge is a big one - an American-style BBQ and a letter from home.  The challenge is a rope course where the castaways have to get medallions from the course, and return to the center with all of theirs.  It's a tight race between Colleen and Kelly, and Colleen pulls it out by a nose.  She gets to go to the BBQ and read her letter; and so does Jenna, who didn't have a video last week!  The rest go back to eat rice.  Rich's naked birthday bothers the female members of Pagong, and they decide they will vote for Rich at Tribal Council - if he's not immune from it.  We'll find out as we play a game of strategy - almost human chess.  It's a close one, but with a little help from his friends, Rudy wins over Gervase and Sean and wins immunity.  So we go to Tribal Council, where Greg sits and observes as Jeff Probst catches him up on what's going on.  Sean, as promised, keeps his order and votes for Jenna.  So does the remaining Tagi alliance of Rudy, Sue, and Rich.  That's 4 votes - which is half.  We already know that Gervase, Colleen, and Jenna are voting for Rich.  So Kelly, a former member of the Tagi alliance, is the only one left.  She votes for Sean, so Jenna goes home to her kids who she misses so dearly.  And only two Pagongs are left.

Episode 10 (8/2/2000):  The most shocking episode of the series saw numerous theories fall by the wayside.  More on all this in a moment.  Many discussions are made, including Sue and Kelly bonding and discussing the possibility of voting off Rich, while Kelly, Sean, Gervase, and Colleen ponder their own alliance - interestingly, also to vote off Rich.  So, Rich is gone, right?  We'll see.  The big event of the show is the announcement of the birth of Gervase's fourth child.  The group celebrates the new birth, but debates Gervase's having four children all out of wedlock.  Meanwhile, Gervase will get to hear from his new baby sooner than he thought.  That's because he wins the weekly reward challenge, which entailed moving across "rolling logs" the fastest.  For winning, Gervase received a mega-sized slice of pizza, which he amicably shared with the entire Rattana tribe, and a phone call home, in which he called his girlfriend and two children to see how they were doing.  Then came the immunity challenge, a sunset fire-setting challenge, where the first person to use the fire to raise their flag won immunity.  Gervase was out almost immediately when his flame extinguished twice.  Rich did the best job and had a large flame long before the others.  So he wins immunity.  How does this affect voting ideas?  Very interestingly.  The two Pagong members vote for Sean, citing his change from his alphabetical voting strategy following voting Jenna off last week.  Sean, for what it's worth, votes for Gervase, as does the entire Tagi tribe, alliance or not.  So Gervase is gone 5-2, and the theories are dead.

Here are the theories disproved:  The "Final Four" theory, which placed Gervase, Colleen, Rudy, and Sean as the final four was disproved, the "X" theory, which claimed Gervase was the winner was disproved, and the "Alliance Dead" theory, which said the Pagongs would begin to turn on each other this week.

Episode 11 (8/9/2000):  More twists and turns, but this episode's all about family.  The castaways are completely worn out following their 30 days on the island, and the voting off of Gervase hasn't helped things at all.  Colleen still feels like the sitting duck, and firmly believes she's gone this week.  But is she?  First comes the reward challenge -- and this one's special:  a night on a yacht, with all the best in amenities, including clean clothes, a hot shower, and all the food the winner can stand.  But only one can win - and it's a battle of knowledge, not a battle of skill.  The castaways answer survival questions, and the first player to reach the end of the course wins.  Sean and Rich tie at the end, and play a tiebreaker, which Sean takes in a squeaker.  So he's going on the yacht.  But one other castaway can meet him for breakfast on the morning of Tribal Council.  Before leaving, he must choose.  He tells Kelly that he owes her a meal and that if he can take someone with him, it'll be her.  She gets excited about the possibilities.  Then when it comes time to name the companion to host Jeff Probst, Sean offers it to Kelly, who doesn't enthusiastically accept, so Sean tells Rich he'll see him on the boat in the morning.  Kelly is LIVID, saying, "Tell Sean he'll have to deal with Wiglesworth when he gets back."  Sean heads for the boat, is wined and dined, and then meets the captain -- his father!  A great reunion ensues, followed by a night's sleep.  Rich meets the group on the yacht the next morning, and they have a full breakfast.  Next, Sean's father accompanies Sean back to Tagi Beach, where Dad has a CARE package for each castaway -- including REAL food and letters from home!  All the castaways are extremely grateful for this morale boost as Sean's Dad leaves the island.  But now it's time to get back to business with a test of strength -- mental and physical -- as they must stay balanced on a "beam" for the longest to win immunity.   Rudy's down quick, along with Rich, Sue, and Sean.  That leaves just Kelly and Colleen -- both of whom are viewed as targets by the still-strong Tagi Alliance.  Kelly eventually wins after more than 2 hours, and she's immune.  Colleen -- the sitting duck -- will serve in that capacity at Tribal Council.  And she does.  Colleen and Kelly vote for Sean (again), and the rest all vote the last Pagong off the island.  Five remain.  All Tagis.  Now they MUST turn on one another.  So what will happen?  Find out next week.

Episode 12 (8/16/2000):  Hey kids!! Can you say bored?  The Tagis can.  And they did.  They had NOTHING to do as the show began -- and all they could even find to talk about was who was next to be voted off.  There seemed to be a decent amount of dissention as the tribe was relegated to all Tagis...but the lingering "Kelly's next" still rang through Tagi Beach.  (Yes I know the tribe is called Rattana now, but it's all Tagis, so as far as I'm concerned, it's Tagi.)  First comes the reward challenge, and it's for a night out at the "Survivor Bar," complete with a little refreshment and a look at the first five minutes of the first episode.  To win the reward, castaways had to collect mud using their bodies and whoever got the most mud in a bucket in five minutes won.  It was a close fight, but Kelly pulled out the victory with nearly 16 pounds of mud.  (Yuck!)  Kelly always said that the third time's a charm (well...no she didn't, but I just did).  And it was for her as she also won the Immunity challenge for a second time by answering five questions correctly in the shortest amount of time in the "Witch Hunt".  That left the struggling Alliance's next target as Sean -- and he was voted off 4-1.  Guess who didn't vote for him?  Sue got the other vote.  Now the Tagi Alliance has reached the final four -- just as they originally predicted.  They also predicted all alliances were toast beyond that.  Will they be?  Find out next week.

Immediate expulsion from the island and forfeiture of prize money can occur if Survivors try to conspire to share the prize, break the law, enter the production area, or damage the island's environment in any way.

Survivors will be required to attend Island Council meetings and participate in challenges.  In the first six episodes (18 days), the Survivors are divided into two groups of eight who build two competing communities on two different parts of the island.  The teams will participate in two types of challenges -- a "reward challenge" where the winners will receive some sort of luxury, like a phone call home or a hot shower, or an "immunity challenge" where survivors compete for immunity from being removed from the island at the next Council meeting.  Only the losing team will have to vote someone out.  In the remaining seven episodes (21 days), the contestants work as individuals.  And it's up to the individual whether to share the "luxury reward."
