EPISODE 2
Recap by Gordon Pepper
Original Airdate:  September 26, 2001
Travel Channel Re-air:  September 28, 2001

Last time we left our 6 stranded (physically, and in some cases, mentally) players, Lando and Carla were on the way to the capital of Mongolia, Courtland and Joe were on the way behind them, and Tami and Celeste were on the way to finding a camel since Courtland and Joe took the last bus out of town from them.

After spending the first five minutes reintroducing us to the six people, we find out from our announcer that 2 of the teams will be suffering from hardship and the leader team will be taunting them (well, that's bright - now that you've just told us what's going to happen, I'm going to watch Family Feud on Game Show Network instead. Now let's see how the Cover Guys are doing....alright Jason, please put the hot iron down, I will go back to recapping the show. Please put it down? OK, thanks - now on to the show...)

So back to the show - Lando and Carla want to get out of Mongolia and go to Russia - Siberia to be exact - so they can take a flight home. The first place team have a whopping 12 hour lead. Meanwhile, Joe wants to get laid in a Mongolian gay bar. Meanwhile, in the classy moment of the evening, Joe tells Courtland his fantasy about him being in a porno in front of a Mongolian family (you want to put THIS on at 8pm?).  Tammy and Celeste finally get going to the Mongolian capital after spending 50 bucks and a tshirt.

Carla and Lando get there at 1:32 pm and try to get money for train and airline tickets. They are up to $187, far from what it would cost for airline tickets. Tami and Celeste get out and massage their butts while they talk about reducing their breasts with the money that they win (you want to put THIS on at 8pm?).

Joe and Courtland meet the blondes and hug each other - only for both teams to realize that they are very very far away from the leaders. Second and third are jockeying for position and they both leave imediately to try to get ahead of each other.

Carla and Lando get on the train to Russia and are a good 24 hours in front of everyone. Tami and Celeste get to the main town at 2am and get some sleep. Meanwhile, Joe and Courtland are still on the road to the Mongolian capital. Carla and Lando get stuck on the Mongolian border waiting for a crossover train and wait for 15 hours for the train - they stay over at the hotel.

Meanwhile, Joe and Courtland find the blondes and they all stayover at the same hotel. After they celebrate Joe's birthday, they form a sort-of alliance and travel together to Russia. Joe and Lando, just settling in their hotel, get some shuteye while the other 2 teams share the same train to jet out of Mongolia.

Carla and Lando finally get on the train that comes for them - unfortunately for them, the other 2 teams are on the same train, pretty much taking their 24 hour lead and flushing it down the toilet. Back to square one. All of the teams have the same problem - which way do they go. Joe and Courtland go to the airport, Tami and Celeste try the train, and Carla and Lando decide to go to the travel agent. Meanwhile, the other 2 teams make fun of Carla and Lando as they blew the lead. The travel agent is trying to find a match for Carla, the blondes get a ticket to ride on the train, and Joe and Courtland just stand there and look lost. Carla and Lando move back in the lead as they take a train to Vladivostok.

The blondes decide to take the train to the airport, but they miss the plane and have to wait for the next flight - which doesn't arrive until the next day. Joe and Courtland are still stuck and Courtland wants to go home since
he realizes he's not going to be hiking anymore (poor poor Courtland). Carla and Lando are on the Trans-Siberian express, making fun of the blondes while Tami and Celeste are wandering on the streets. By taking their time to go to the agent, Carla and Lando are once again up by 24 hours.

Joe and Courtland meet Oleg, who volunteers to drive them out of the city. Celeste and Tami go back to the station and find some Mormons, who tell them that they can't afford a ticket. Carla begs for - and gets - money from the guys on the plane, Joe and Courtland do the same with Oleg's boss. The boss, Mr. Oh, gives them $200 to start. Tami and Celeste aren't going to do that - and joke about whoring, but they know that they don't have the money to do that.

Joe and Courtland are picking up a lot of culture and are learning a lot about the natives - which means that haven't gotten squat. Meanwhile, Carla and Lando extend to a 2 day lead, though Carla is not thrilled with the
bathroom conditions. Meanwhile Lando makes more money by ahnilating the Russian natives at cards.

Joe and Courtland are making connections with all sorts of people - and they are so happy - they meet a crying Tami and Celeste, who spent the night in a hotel. And Carla and Lando are just as miserable, in a dirty smelly train, but they are well in the lead after day 7.

Celeste and Tami are planning to go to the station and meet the Mormons who warn them that they could get bumped off the train in the middle of nowhere. Meanwhile Joe and Courtland are still feasting and waiting for Oleg to get him a ticket to Moscow. Carla and Lando got into an altercation with some drunk Russian people, according to the cameraman that was with them - but they're still safe and sound.

Celeste and Tami FINALLY get on the train, knowing that they can get kicked off at any time. Joe and Courtland are having the time of their lives - in Ulan Ude - but they're waiting for a plane to Moscow which would put the bubble heads in first - if it works out (which it probably won't). Line of the night comes from Celeste - 'My grandmother would get to the Statue of Liberty before we got there - and she's dead.' They are stuck in the same Trans-Siberian express train.

Carla and Lando get out of the express train and are now looking to go east to Tokyo as they try to con the people to work on the ship to get there. Joe and Courtland pack up their bags and are waiting for buddy Oleg to get the tickets. Meanwhile, Lando auditions to get on the boat and Joe is told they need another $200 bucks. Both deals are completed - Joe gets his plane and Lando gets his cruise ship. Carla brags about the free cruise ship to Tami and Celeste - who are taking the same crappy Siberian train. So it boils down
to Carla and Lando against Joe and Courtland - with Tami and Celeste as the dark dark dark horses.

To Be Concluded...
