Endurance 2 - The premiere!
Last season on Endurance - 20 kids battled it out on an
island in the Pacific Ocean to see who had the greatest
Endurance. In the end, only one team prevailed.
But wait until you see E2! New twists! New country! And
burros and donkeys for transportation! It's the
adventure of lifetime! Here are the twenty players:
Phil, 14, Denver CO
Michelle, 14, Linden NJ
Shep, 14, Wayzata MN
Calley, 15, Elberton GA
Maryelle, 15, Winter Park FL
Glen, 14, Austin TX
Sarah, 14, Breckenridge CO
Scooter, 14, Orlando FL
David, 14, Clermont FL
Annie, 15, Bethesda MD
Jeff, 15, Sanger CA
Christa, 13, Austin TX
Jacquelynn, 13, Silver Spring MD
Tyler, 14, Jacksonville FL
Abbey, 14, Humble TX
Mike, 15, Shelton CT
Wayne, 15, Bloomfield NJ
Keetin, 14, Fairfax VA
Trey, 14, Sebring FL
Simone, 15, Antioch CA
... and I'm your recapper for E2, someone who's pretty
much seen every one of the host's on camera hosting
appearances,
Ryan, 25, St. John's Newfoundland.
The titles then flash by - 8 teams? Last year it was
seven, but oh, there are surprises in store!
The kids reflect on the journey so far.
Michelle: Really excited to ride on a burro... but it
didn't really like me!
Trey: The ride would have been alright if my donkey
cooperated.
Wayne: As soon as I got on a donkey, I fell!
They finally meet up with the host, JD Roth. And they
are GOIN' TO THE FUN HOUSE!
(Ryan is handed a memo)
(Gordongram: Ryan - If you turn this into Fun House 2 - Electric Boogaloo, I will send Joe Rogan and his tank of Pirahna after you.)
Okay, I'll stop with the Fun House jokes. Just had to
get it out of the way. Please don't hate me for it.
JD: Congratulations on beating the odds to get here.
You ready to get started? Let's go.
We've now made it to camp. And it's not the Hilton,
kiddies. No running water. No electricity. No cell
phones - AAAAHHHH. Heh, heh. These kids are going to
have fun...
And there's twelve pyramid pieces to be won to achieve
"Endurance". You'll have to display all twelve traits
to come out victorious. There's two types of missions
- Endurance, where you win the pieces, and Temple -
where the victor sends two teams to the temple of Fate:
and only one returns.
Speaking of kids getting the long donkey ride home, six
of them don't even get to move in, as they'll be
eliminated by the end of the day.
So let's get to know each other, shall we? Kids start
calling beds right away - which I think is just a
method of jinxing yourself.
Annie: Living with other kids and getting to know them,
it's like camp.
Scooter: I got onto the bed. But it shouldn't be
called a bed. It should be called WOOD.
Simone: The boys are very... interesting.
Shep: I'm confident about this game.
Christa: One wrong move, and that's it.
Everyone now approaches the beach for the elimination
game. It's called Drop Out, and here's how it works.
You stand on a plank over the sea, and hold a trapeze
over your head. If you lower the bar too much, your
plank gives way, and so do you - unless you can hang
on. First three to taste the sea of Cortez in each
gender's heat wins the burro ride back to where you
came from.
Overcome the pain, become an official E2 player. Give
in, you're gone.
Guys are up first. Girls shout approval. David's
having problems early on.
We fast forward to the four minute mark. Wayne's in
pain. David's the first to drop. The floor's dropped
on Scooter, but he's still hanging on. Glen and Trey
drop shortly after, and they're gone. The other seven
move on.
Reflections?
David: I was fine for a while, and then my legs started
to shake.
Glen: My balances didn't think I could do it.
Trey: Really disappointing... getting eliminated in the
first round.
Now it's time for the girls. The remaining boys stay
for support. And they're off. It's extra windy.
At two minutes, everyone's doing fine, save for Sarah,
whose platform is gone. At five minutes, the pain is
present. Unfortunately, Sarah can't hold on, and she's
gone. Within instants of each other, Simone and Abbey
are down. The other seven are relieved as they're
moving on.
More thoughts:
Simone: I don't know what happened.
Sarah: My arm just started getting tired.
Abbey: I'm sad to go home, but at least I made it this
far.
Now we have 14 E2 players, officially. But don't get
comfy yet - tomorrow is partner pickin' day. Get to
know them well... you'll need to.
NEXT TIME: They can't just pick their partners, they'll
have to compete for them. And! The rookies get to face
two veterans from last year's Endurance! What a riot.
October 4, 2003
Last week: The 20 kids started out. Six were eliminated. 14 now fight to pick their partners.
(roll titles).
JD greets our "campers", and finds out that everyone didn't get a good night's sleep when their friends left. Today's challenge is very important. It's for partners. JD asks Shep if he has found his ideal partner. Shep says that it's Jacquelynn or Krista.
Umm? HELLO! You don't say things like that out loud! Yeesh. Jacquelynn says that would work. Wayne also thinks he would be a good substitute on that team.
But! In true E2 style, you don't get to pick your own teammate. JD suggests finding out what colour and teammate you'd like to have - pretty cryptic if you ask me.
The kiddies go off and try to make a "roster". Calley states that everyone "wants the same two or three people". True playground style. Several girls state that they want Shep or Jeff. The guys pretty much all want Jacquelynn. Wayne's strategy to get her is to state to everyone to "back off".
Yep, I see that working.
Michelle says that after Shep specified, most of the girls didn't feel very special. I agree, but unfortunately, that's the nature of the beast in this game.
It's Partner Selection time. The girl and the boy that get the same ball in this game called "WashOut" will be teammates. Sounds easy, right?
It's not. JD does his best Carol Merrill impression and pulls a curtain between the genders. And did we ever break the budget with the curtain (or maybe it's supposed to be like that - my apologies if it is!)
And with the ball falling is some water. To flush it out, inevitably. You'd think they'd have slime, but?
JD announces the colours one by one. The boys and girls are continually doused in this game, and although they have their partners, they aren't revealed to each other until the end of the game.
The teams are:
ORANGE - Tyler and Michelle
GREEN - Mike and Keetin
PURPLE - Jeff and Annie
RED - Phil and Jacquelynn
GREY - Wayne and Maryelle
YELLOW - Shep and Calley
Wayne is happy. Jacquelynn feels that she's done well. Annie feels that she can win the lot. Keetin's quite pleased. Calley is going to "take it to the top". Tyler feels he's the exact opposite when compared with his partner. Christa feels she has "differences" in relating to Scooter.
We have our teams? or do we?
Back from the break, each team has coloured outfits and a free pyramid piece. No sign of Dick Clark, though. Each place their piece on their respective columns.
Wait a second?
There's 12 pieces. All seven teams have one. There's four visibly up for grabs. That makes eleven. What happened to "perseverance"?
Remember when JD mentioned E2 having "lots of surprises"? Well, this would be the shocker, then. He holds up a basket, which he says he's brought from California.
Recently, there was an E1 reunion. Each player was allowed to vote one guy and one girl they though should get a second chance at Endurance.
The kids are shocked! Me? I think it's BRILLIANT. What a novel idea! (I choose to ignore the fact that Baldwin and Bernsen are coming back for Celeb Mole Yucatan).
JD opens the basket. "The guy that was voted back by all E1 players is?
(ad break: Simon 2, Capri Sun, Pringles, Trading Spaces: Boys vs. Girls)
...."Max". Max states that his strategy has changed and he doesn't know these people as well as they know each other.
The group seems quite happy to see him. And joining him is Jenna. They'll be the Brown team.
We get our first look at the prize: a week at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. No pick a prize arcade this year!
Paging Laurie Faso?
Everyone heads back to camp. Christas states that the Brown team's arrival has "messed everything up". Scooter, who likes to act like the Big Man On Campus, says that no one likes them.
NEXT TIME! Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water: one team will be eliminated!
October 11, 2003
Last week: We picked the teams! Matt and Jenna rose from the Endurance grave!
(roll titles)
Shep thinks adding the brown team was "trippy". Scooter doesn't like them (shocker!). Keetin's happy they're here.
But just like a certain show in Panama, alliances/coalitions/groups/parties of five (or whatever). Scooter notes that his partner is associating with the brown team, much to his disgust.
Annie suspects purple might take a hit. Keetin confirms this.
It's game time, and it's a variant on Jenga. JD gives a warning that the first elimination will be tonight - so it is aptly titled "the tower of power".
They have to stack all blocks to win - while traversing the hot sand and other obstacles. They must have a complete stack at all times, or they have to stop and restack.
And they're off! They start by swimming, and yellow and brown are in the lead. They're both at four of ten blocks.
Yellow and brown continue to battle, joined by blue, while going under the bridge. Blue and brown fall, so do yellow, and then brown takes the lead? and green comes out of nowhere to jump into first. Brown and green both fall again, and then they restack? here comes purple, but they fall? here comes green - they fall at the finish but are able to restack to win the lot.
So green will determine which two teams will go to the temple of fate.
Yellow and brown discuss their close but no cigar runs. Yellow regrets going barefooted. Annie from the purple team feels that orange is the weakest team.
Green doesn't like the fact that they have to pick, so they've determined that they should send two weak teams. Whomever comes back, then, doesn't pose too big of a threat.
Back from the break, Green reveals its choice. But not before another twist is revealed. The team that is eliminated gets to designate who gets their pyramid pieces. Green feels their choice was hard, but they're sending grey and orange.
Michelle from orange can't understand why Mike, her "bro from Green", did this to her. In fact, they did it because her partner on orange is homesick. Wayne from grey is disappointed - he doesn't want to entertain going to the temple.
At the temple, the game is a variant on rock/paper/scissors. Except it's wood/water/fire. Didn't we see this last year? The teams prep for the first draw. And it is?
Orange - water; Grey - fire.
Orange is halfway to going back to the beach. Round 2?
Orange - wood; Grey - fire
Fire burns wood; thus it's one a piece. Finally?
Orange - water; Grey - fire
Thus Orange stays, and grey goes.
Orange heads back to the beach, and endures for another episode.
Next time: Teams battle over who to target! And who will drop the ball?
October 18, 2003
Last time: Players fought hard in their first mission.
Green won, and sent orange and grey to the temple.
Orange came back, Grey left. Today, they're playing
for Pyramid pieces.
(roll titles)
JD enters camp. He remarks that Grey is gone first for
the second year in arrow. Keetin reads a note from the
Grey team that they are giving their piece to Purple.
Tyler (Orange) remarks that he wasn't thrilled with
"Send Tyler home" being on the note. His teammate
questions his loyalty. It seems that they want to peel
away from each other. HA!
Phil is discovered to have a crush on Jacquelynn.
Sadly, "Double Up" is no longer on NBC Saturday
mornings. Annie of purple wished that grey would've
stayed - Orange now feel targeted, along with purple
(due to their whopping one piece lead).
It's game time, kiddies! It's pretty simple. One
partner is on the beach with a slingshot. The other is
on top of a platform out in the water. Catch it, and
you get to kick out another team. Win, and get the
luck piece, plus the right to give someone the Samadhi
(which will hinder their progress in the next game).
Round one: Blue and Green catch. Blue dumps Brown,
Green kicks out Orange.
Round two: Blue. And they get rid of yellow (much to
their dismay)
Round three: Purple eliminates Blue
Round four: Green kicks out Red
Final Round: Purple (WIN!)
They now lead with three pieces.
Orange is grumpy about their results. Shep of yellow
reflects a little more positively. Scooter is his
usual cocky self.
Calley says Purple is a strong nemesis. She and the
others are worried about getting the Samadhi. Purple
think it over, and everyone is wondering. They say its
between Brown and Yellow. They talk it over with Mike
and Shep, and Shep says he'll talk to his partner.
We gather for the giving of the Samadhi. But before
that, it's talk show time. Purple feels threatened.
Green has come close but not close enough. Brown feels
like an outsider still. Jacquelynn says there's no
romance on the beach that she knows of.
And Purple gives the Samadhi to... Orange. They're just
not having any luck. They smash it open, and find out
that they'll be controlling an extra ball in the next
mission.
NEXT TIME: Another elimination is looming...
October 25, 2003
Last time: Purple took the lead. Orange got set back.
And today, someone's going home.
(roll titles)
We go straight into the game. It's called Rollerball.
Teammates each take the side of a plank on which there
is a maze. Roll two balls successfully down the track,
and you win. Orange gets to also get the bonus ball -
thus they have to get three.
The teams get started, and it's tough. Brown gets the
first one, followed closely by Green. Yellow gets the
next one. And Green narrowly beat Brown for number
two... and the win. They'll be deciding the two teams to
go to the temple.
Orange says that they don't like working together.
Brown feels that they did well. Green feels very
powerful.
Purple wonders if they'll stay - but they think Orange
will get sent. Annie says actually that they they're
okay. But discussions among girls dictates otherwise.
Green, Yellow and Brown are having heated discussions.
In confessional, Keetin (Green) says she really wants
to send Purple. Mike doesn't. Keeting sates that
sometimes you gotta take chances. Max (Brown) states
that a good strategy is to send two strong teams.
So... it's time for Green to decide. And they've chose...
Orange... and ... they're hesitating... Red. Orange isn't
surprised, but Red is. Jacquelynn is crying in
confessional. She's very upset. But as Annie says,
it's part of the game!
Red and Orange are now at the temple. And guess what
folks? It's E2 version of Rock/Paper/Scissors again.
Round one: Orange - water, Red - Fire. Orange leads.
Round two: Orange - fire, Red - wood. Orange wins.
Puzzingly, the one team is heading home is the one that
one wants to stay. Maybe Orange will clue in?
Next time: Friendships are put to the test.
November 1, 2003
Last time: red went home. Today, it's a pyramid
scheme.
(roll titles)
JD meets the kids at camp. He says there's a note to
be read, left behind by the eliminated team (Red).
Green (Mike and Keetin) get to read it, and it's
addressed to everyone but them. Blue gets Red's piece.
JD hints that in today's mission, they can target any
team they want.
Keetin's not impressed that Red were "sore losers".
Mike wasn't surprised, but he's now worried that they
might be targeted by other teams.
Max (Brown) says his team's still a winner. Calley of
Yellow says everyone will target everyone else in this
next game. Scooter of Blue is "getting serious".
Right, sure.
Game time! JD comments that the game, in general, has
become predictable. Green wins missions, Orange goes
to temple. The game is called Tide Pull. One person
paddles a boat. The other stays on the beach. After
30 seconds wait time, the people on the beach can pull
in anyone they want. In essence they can gang up on
anyone they want.
Winner gets a pyramid piece and control of the samati.
The teams start paddling, but they get tied up quickly.
Everyone goes after Blue, save for Orange, who's after
Yellow. Blue is next to be eliminated. Followed by
Orange, then Green.
We're down to Purple and Brown. Max pulls in Purple,
thus Brown wins. They've got their second piece.
Max states that initially everyone went after Blue and
Yellow. Scooter feels that his team is perceived that
they are strong. Jenna (Brown) is happy they've made
it far this season.
Calley can't understand why people don't like her.
She's confused that alliances keep changing. Max is
running around trying to make alliances with everyone.
Apparently he wants to block certain teams, and is
plotting to become Richard Hatch junior.
We're now at the cove for the Samati presentation. JD
asks questions. Brown knows they have a tough decision
to make. Shep feels they're close to Brown and Green.
Calley starts crying. She feels that she's being
picked on unnecessarily. JD says that everyone should
be supportive of others.
Who will Brown give the samati too? The answer is...
Blue. Max feels the game needs to be shook up a bit.
They'll (Blue) have a 10 second handicap in the next
mission.
January 11, 2004
Last time: We're back from Christmas reruns! Tension
between Callie and Annie comes to a boiling point. In
the blindfolded temple mission, Blue was edged out by
Brown. They get sent to play Purple at the temple but
are unlucky again - they're going home. Today, a
pyramid piece will be awarded...
(roll titles)
JD is wearing blue in honour of the previous night's
elimination. Blue has assigned its pieces to... purple.
Blue also hopes they or green win, and respect brown
for sending them to temple.
So the standings are now Purple with five, Brown with
two, and Orange, Yellow and Green each still holiding
their freebie.
Purple seems stunned. And under their breaths you can
hear them say that they have "way too many".
Calley of Yellow says that many are mad because Purple
has the huge lead. But Calley and Annie aren't
fighting anymore. Annie fears that the Samati will be
sent their way, and then it's off to temple after that.
Pyramid Game time. John Davidson, thankfully, is
nowhere to be found. Yellow proclaims they'll win.
Purple feels they're a target. Orange feels Brown is
running the show. The game is "Face to Face". The
partners have to hold a bar between them while
suspended as long as they can. And they're continually
rising.
But... Green falls before they even start. Yellow is the
second to go. Everyone else is doing well. Orange
goes next, however, leaving (arguably) our two
strongest teams - Purple and Brown.
This game seems like it might take forever, but low and
behold, Purple wins, gets the samati, and their sixth
piece!
(A simple aside: remember when JD hosted Fun House and
we got three games, a grand prix race and a bonus run
in one half hour? Just curious.)
Green states that they tripped off the boards from the
start. Brown thought about brokering a deal but it
wasn't to be. Purple posts their piece. Calley wishes
she could get rid of them. Shep is getting frustrated
that Calley has "no athletic ability". Max is
convinced that Purple is giving Brown the samati. But
he's trying to spin some yarns. Annie is listening but
doesn't want to be "played".
After the break it's time for the Point Of Samati. JD
points out that everyone has made it to the halfway
point, and Purple has half the pieces.
JD points out that Max is somewhat the "captain" of the
alliance (or "friendship" as he calls it). Max states
that he is "aligned" with green and yellow (but they
don't think that yellow is not so good). JD points out
that Green hasn't won anything since they left Moolah
Beach three years ago.
BUT! It's time for the Samati. Purple has chose to
give it to Brown. SHOCKER! Inside it says "24
inches". Ooh...
NEXT TIME: Nothing but a meaningless teaser... but in the
words of the old school ATGS world, it will be "NU NU
NU"! You figure it out!
January 18, 2004
Last time: Purple controls everything! They have the
most pieces! They won the last game! They gave out the
samati!
(roll titles)
Slightly OT: wouldn't it be devilishly cruel if JD
suddenly decreed "CHANGE PARTNERS"?? BWAH HA HA! I am
so evil.
Anyway... Mike of Green states that Max of Brown states
that yellow isn't pulling their weight. Keetin -
Mike's teammate - agrees, and states as well that they
desperately need to win a mission.
Annie in Purple says they need to win, because everyone
will most likely send them to temple. Max is not
concerned about the samati.
Temple Mission: Cherry Picker. Put together three
pieces to form a pole. Then transfer balls into a
tower. First one to finish - surprisingly - wins.
Brown gets an extra two feet of tower (remember... 24
inches).
Everyone starts pretty even. Purple is first to move,
but orange is first to get in... but no one's far behind.
Yellow has their second one on the way, and so does
green. Same with purple and orange. Yellow's on the
way for number three, Purple catches up... and yellow
drops it, and purple wins.
Yellow can't believe that purple won again. Yellow
suspects that they and Brown will go to temple. Purple
approached Green, and asked if they don't send Green,
that they will stick with them instead of whomever
comes back.
Max is doing his best Richard Hatch impression and
trying to sweet talk Purple not to send them. Annie
doesn't seem convinced about anything. She's still
some ticked that Brown sent them up to temple for no
reason. Jenna feels that Max is strategizing too much.
Back after the ad break, Purple decrees that Brown and
Yellow will row, row, row their boat to temple.
Jenna: Not cool!
Michelle (Orange): Boy, am I happy!
Annie: Got to visualize the grand prize.
Max: Whomever comes back will win... (little do they know
about the Purple/Green deal).
At temple, the sea is causing it to rock back and
forth. I'm getting woozy just looking at it,
remembering a certain boat ride in the Atlantic Ocean
last October...
Round one: Brown - Water, Yellow - Wood. Yellow leads
1-0.
Round two: Brown - Water, Yellow - Fire. Tie game.
Round three: Brown - Fire, Yellow - Wood. Brown goes
back to the beach, Yellow goes home. Calley's quite
emotional.

(Gordongram - Stormseeker.com definitely does not endorse this. WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY?????)
Guess I can't complain too much. They're picking up
"Mole" reruns.
To end the show, Brown arrives back at the beach, and
Purple is not amused.
NEXT TIME: Are you ready for new challenges? Etc. It's
the same promo. My prediction? A pyramid piece game,
and some backstabbing. Maybe!
January 24, 2004
Last time: Purple got a last second win, and sent Brown
and Yellow to the temple. Yellow went home. Today, we
scale the pyramid.
(roll titles)
We start with our now infamous powwow and discover that
Yellow has left their piece to Brown (after chewing out
Purple). Standings are Purple with six, Brown with
three, and Green + Orange with singles.
Orange comments that they've made it this far without
winning a single game. Brown is plotting to win
everything, but Max is doing himself a disservice by
trying to ally with every team left. Keetin (Green):
"He's making cheques his toosh can't cash".
Game time: "Aqueduct". Using piping, construct a path
on wooden columns to transfer water from point A to
point B. Rube Goldberg not included.
The pieces only connect one way. Orange and Purple are
out to an early lead... Orange is pulling ahead... Green's
catching up... but it looks like Orange is pulling the
handle on the water chamber, and they watch the water
come down - giving them the win. Their first, to be
exact!
Mike from Green thought they started well. Annie of
Purple thinks everyone underestimated Orange. Orange's
tough decision is now to figure out who to give the
Samati to. Purple is plotting to try to ally with
Orange. Orange thinks they'd best give it to Brown.
Makes feels that Orange is the "wild card" team right
now. He thinks Orange should give the Samati to
Purple. Orange declares that they should give it to
Green, because they have nothing to offer. That's what
they think, at least.
Tyler states at the Samati mission that it's hard to
pick whom to give it to. Green sent them to temple.
Brown likes to control life on the beach. Purple has
pieces-a-go-go.
Everyone feels kind of safe. And Orange has changed
their minds several times. And they decide on...
Tyler speaks. "Actually, first, I have a question... is
it possible to take the Samati out of the game?". JD
inquires why he would want to do that: Tyler responds
that it's that they'd like to see an even playing field
for the next game, and they don't want to create any
enemies at this point.
JD says that they can, as long as he gets to hear who
they would've given it to. It would have been Green.
Will the strategy work?
NEXT TIME: Tyler tried to be a nice guy, but will he
finish first?
January 31, 2004
Last time: No more samati, kids!
(roll titles)
Orange feels safe not having given the Samati to
anyone. Other teams don't agree.
Right away we start with the temple game. You need to
walk along a plank maze from barrel to barrel, finding
letter tiles. Unscramble word. JD says you need
"leadership" to win. Green pulls out to the lead with
four tiles, but Purple is catching up... and with only
one way to navigate the maze, Green is first off their
planks and successfully spells the word.
And guess what - the word was "LEADERSHIP"!
Wait a minute... I'm having a vision....
(WAYNE'S WORLD DREAM SEQUENCE FX)
Anderson: "And I need two people that can count to 751..."
(END SEQUENCE FX)
Sorry, just drifted off for a minute...
Green's feeling quite pleased with themselves. They're
in a great position. They declare to the faces of
Brown that they're being sent up, and Brown tries to
guilt them out of it.
Green at this point feels the game is tough, and
they're having big problems with it as such.
Brown and Purple make deals to assign pieces to each
other in case of a trip to the temple that sends them
home. And surprise, surprise, when temple time rolls
around, Brown and Purple are sent packing. Before they
go, Keetin tries to have a group hug but it doesn't
work. Annie feels stabbed in the back. Max declares
that Brown and Purple still rule the beach, and that
whomever comes back WILL win the game.
And at the temple of fate...
Round 1: Brown - Wood, Purple - Water. Brown 1-0.
Round 2: Both teams pick wood.
Round 3: Brown - Wood, Purple - Water. Brown wins 2-0.
Brown heads back to the beach... and it's game on.
NEXT TIME: THE FINAL TEMPLE MISSION!
February 7, 2004
Last time: Green's leadership kept them on the beach.
And Orange stuck around too. Brown beat Purple at
temple. Today: the final temple mission!
(roll titles)
JD greets our campers. And much to everyone's
surprise, Purple gives their pieces to Orange (or
specifically Michelle). Orange goes from worst to
first with 8 pieces, Green has one, and our holdouts
from last year - Brown - have three.
Brown are not amused that they were not left Purple's
pieces. And to boot, someone gets
eliminated/executed/voted out/asked to leave the
house/has their plate smashed tonight.
(You'll want to circle the correct answer for this
series; this is simple compared to the SAT's, right
kids?)
Michelle of Orange is very happy with her gain. Max
isn't really happy - he thought they were promised the
pieces! Mike on Green would be surprised if Orange won
today. Max doesn't want to go to Temple - that would
be three in a row.
For the temple mission, we'll be playing "Pathfinder"
for a BRAND NEW...
(checks copy)
Sorry, I best leave that to Randy West. We'll be
playing a different version with only one prize: to
make the finals.
Teams are given a 10x10 grid with 3 of each of 4
coloured x's. They must connect one x to a second x
while keeping the third x in the middle. No
overlapping, no extraneous squares, no diagonals.
Sorta like that "snake" game that you play on your
mobile phones.
At the start, it looks like Green is on the right
track, but they take it away. Brown looks good, Orange
is having brainfart after brainfart. And after some
random cloud shots, Green wins!
Or they would've, had they'd done it right. Game's
still on.
Orange is now stunned. Green is puzzled. And Brown?
They've won; and they're staying on the beach. Last
year, the first to go; this year, maybe never?
For the first time, Green has to go to temple. They're
nervous, but they have to go anyway. They wonder if
Orange's luck will stay or shift their way? Michelle
is very desperate to go on a "real vacation with her
Mom", because she's never gone away before.
Green and Orange paddle out for the last temple of
fate. Who will win?
Round 1: Green - Water, Orange - Fire. Green 1-0.
Round 2: Green - Fire, Orange - Wood. Green 2-0.
Orange is very upset.
As they leave, Tyler states to "show them what it's all
about"!
NEXT TIME: a rerun!
THE TIME AFTER THAT: fighting for 8 pieces on the last
day to determine E2 champ!
February 21, 2004
Last time: Purple left pieces to Orange. Brown won the
mission. Green got lucky all around, because Orange
went home.

Mike in confessional is very excited to be back.
Keetin says temple is very cool (I suspect it's cool
because she came back, but anyway...). She had been told
to go with her first intuition, and that's why she
thinks she won. Both Green and Brown though were quite
sad that Orange had to leave.
Max states that he really would like to win; however,
it's a personal achievement to have got this far.
Green is worried that they'll lose if today is a
physical game.
Before going to the final temple mission, the teams go
for a swim and reflect upon the different sea life that
surrounds them. The underwater shots make me extremely
jealous. The two teams wish there were others still
around.
We finally get to the last pyramid piece mission.
They'll be playing "Chase". They must cross planks
(incidentally the piece poles of their eliminated
comrades) to get from station to station. And the
steal pyramid pieces along the way. Once you either
lose the flag tied to you or fall in the drink, you're
out. Once that happens to both players on one team,
the game is over and each team wins the pieces in their
basket.
And we're off! Brown starts by crawling which loses
them time. Green takes several "leaps of faith". Mike
grabs Jenna's flag, so she's out. Keetin in the
meantime has fallen off. Mike picks up a couple of
pieces, and then Max... falls off.
As it is, both teams get four pieces. That gives Brown
a final score of 7, Green finishes with 5. JD says
there is a "surprise".
In actual fact the "surprise" are some necklaces that
have been hand made, reminding them of their time on E2.
NEXT TIME: SEASON FINALE!!! Somebody wins a trip to
Atlantis resort, where you can party til your heart
can't take it no more! Will last year's first losers
win it all? Or will them come close but no cigar??
February 28, 2004
Last time: For weeks, we've been playing this little
game called Endurance. 8 teams started; now we're down
to two. For Max and Jenna of Brown, the journey
started last year. They played hard in the original
Endurance series, but were the first to go.
However, in a twist of fate, at the reunion show, they
were voted back into the series two round by their
fellow players.
For Mike and Keetin of Green, the road started long
before their initial burro ride across a desert. They
were both big fans of the original Endurance, and
submitted tapes in hopes of getting picked for
Endurance 2.
Today: SOMEONE WINS!
(roll titles)
Keetin and Jenna discuss that this was not a vacation.
Far from it. They'll miss the beach. Max feels that
he's very lucky to have had a second chance. Keetin
states that they felt that they worked well as a team.
Jenna's happy to have Max as a partner.
(By the way, to get on E3, call 1-866-PICK-ME-1.
Seriously!)
The teams say goodbye to the back, and they're both
nervous about what's to come. They paddle out to the
temple.
This time, there's no fire, wood or water to be
determining a winner. But everything does hinge on
this competition. The final game is called "Pyramid
Count".
The team that is behind (in this case, Green), are the
first team to wager on which of the pyramids (starting
with three, increasing by one everytime) they believe
holds under it the "golden pyramid". Whichever spots
they do not wager on, the other team MUST
cover/pay/what have you. Whomever is correct wins all
the pieces on the table. They'll play until one teams
wins all twelve pieces.
We start with Green at 5 pieces, Brown at 7.
Round One. Three pyramids.
Green: bets on the first and second pyramids. Brown:
takes the third. It's the first. Game is tied 6-6.
Round Two. Four pyramids. Green gets to go first as
they still do not have the lead.
Green: first and third. Brown: second and fourth.
It's third. Green leads 8-4.
Round Three. Five pyramids. Brown's first chance to
bet first.
Brown: fourth and fifth. Green: first through third.
It's third. Green leads 10-2; they're two pieces away
from winning the lot.
Round four. Six pyramids. Brown first.
Brown: second. Green: first through fourth and sixth.
It's... a commercial??
Back from the break it's revealed that Brown beat the
odds as it was indeed number two. Brown now leads 7-5.
Round five. Seven pyramids. Green first.
Green: first and fifth. Brown: second, third, fourth,
sixth, seventh. It's seventh. Brown leads 9-3.
Round six. Eight pyramids. Again, green first.
Green: second and sixth. Brown: first, third, fourth,
fifth, seventh, eighth. It's sixth. It's now Green's
turn to lead 9-3.
Round seven. Nine pyramids. Brown first.
Brown: second. Green: everything else! It's indeed
second! Brown leads 11-1. This could be it for Green.
Round eight. Ten pyramids. Green first.
Green: ninth. Brown: first-eighth, tenth. And it's
the eighth... and that means that Brown wins Endurance
two!
And they are GOING TO THE FUN HOUSE... READY AND...
Whoops. Sorry, that's just my childhood wishes coming
back to me.
Max and Jenna are stunned that not only did they get
two chances, but they did win on the second try!
They're beside themselves!
NEXT TIME: Nope, that's it! Thanks to everyone who
read about this exciting series. Also thanks to Gordon
and everyone else at Stormseeker for their continued
support.
Until next time...
