King Regis gets the royal welcome, but we better
tone it down, or else no one's going to win any
money! Regis makes mention of the $10,000,000
superprize and the two new lifelines, Double Dip
(player will have two chances to answer a
question) and 3 Wise Men (three experts whose
identities are, at the moment, shrouded in
secrecy). Also, the Money Tree has been given an
explosive facelift:1000-2000-3000-4000-5000-10,000-20,000-30,000-50,000-100,000-500,000-1,000,000-2,500,000-5,000,000-10,000,000.
We don't meet all of tonight's Super
Millionaire Ten, but here comes tonight's first Fastest Finger
Question!

Put
these reality TV series in order if their
original US debut, starting with the
earliest. |
|
A:
The Mole |
B:
The Real World |
|
C:
Big Brother |
D:
The Bachelorette |
Correct order: B, C, A, D. Fastest time
goes to... Todd Kim (3.61)!
TODD KIM Washington, DC.
He works as an attorney at the Department of
Justice (watch your step!). He lives in a
basement apartment, but with $10,000,000, "the Kimmer" could afford to move on out of the
basement. His technique for attracting women is,
in a word, carpooling. Hey, it worked, didn't
it? Rules are the same, with a few
exceptions, instead of starting with $100, we
start with $1000. And every time he passes a
milestone of $100,000, he earns another
lifeline. Hip hip hooray, it's time to play!
For $1000:
|
The
national anthem of the United Kingdom is
titled "God Save" what? |
|
A:
The Flag |
B:
The Isles |
|
C:
The Queen |
D:
Elton John |
Todd's friends wish it were D, but it's C,
and Todd can continue. For $2000:
|
What business icon says "You're fired" at
the end of each episode of the hit TV show
"The Apprentice"? |
|
A:
Oprah Winfrey |
B:
Bill Gates |
|
C:
Rupert Murdoch |
D:
Donald Trump |
Todd locks in D for $2000. For $3000:
|
According to Nabisco, "Twist, Lick & Dunk"
is the proper way to enjoy what cookie? |
|
A:
Chips Ahoy! |
B:
Nutter Butter |
|
C:
Oreo |
D:
Fig Newton |
Todd's never heard the slogan before, but he
deduces C for $3000. For $4000:
|
What NFL team's mascots are named Edgar,
Allan and Poe? |
|
A:
San Francisco 49ers |
B:
New York Giants |
|
C:
Baltimore Ravens |
D:
New Orleans Saints |
Edgar Allan Poe spent some time in Baltimore,
so Todd reasons C and he continues to the $5000
milestone.
|
Which of these man-made structures is
specifically designed to prevent flooding? |
|
A:
Levee |
B:
Cornice |
|
C:
Portico |
D:
Turret |
Todd goes with A for his final, and he's
secured himself $5000, moving from the basement
to the first floor. Now it's onto the suite.
Here's the $10,000 question:
|
Ronald Reagan's father gave him what
nickname as a child? |
|
A:
Brit |
B:
Swede |
|
C:
Dutch |
D:
Turk |
Todd's heard Dutch before. He goes with it...
And he's got $10,000! Onto $20,000.
|
Usually served cold, gazpacho is a
traditional soup of what country? |
|
A:
Poland |
B:
Spain |
|
C:
Greece |
D:
France |
Todd goes with B, remembering his friend's
honeymoon in Spain. They tried gazpacho, and now
he can try $20,000 worth of it. Let's go for
$30,000.
|
In
2004, Britney Spears spent hours married to
a man who shared his name with what
"Seinfeld" actor? |
|
A:
Jason Alexander |
B:
Michael Richards |
|
C:
Jerry Stiller |
D:
Wayne Knight |
Todd read about it (how could he not?),
remembering Jason Alexander with some
uncertainty. He'll take the risk... And he wins
$30,000! For $50,000...
Sounded like a pangram to me. Todd is
stumped, eliminating two, though he won't say
what. He wants to use the 50:50 later. But if he
gets it wrong, he'll leave all three lifelines
on the table. Not good. He'll use the 50:50 now,
leaving pangram and eponym. That leaves... the
two Todd was thinking of. Todd is leaning toward
pangram. He'll take the chance... and he's got
$50,000! Now for the big milestone of
$100,000...
Todd hasn't a clue, so he's going to chance
it with the audience. Not a large sum, but 31
percent say it's Fred Noonan, with Floyd Bennett
at 29 and Wiley Post at 26. "Kimmer's unhappy
with all of you!" ("Actually, I'm only unhappy
with 75% of you"). So he burns a lifeline, his
PAF Robert Oakley.
Robert: "Fred Noonan. Fairly sure, but not
certain."
Sure enough for $100,000! And it's time for
that new dimension of cash, lifelines, and
levels that have never been chartered before.
But first, I get dizzy from watching Todd's
camera spin around. Okay. Now. Five questions
away from $10,000,000. And because we have the 3
Wise Men lifeline available, we reveal their
identities. And they are...
Nancy Christy - Former "Millionaire" player,
only female to win the $1,000,000.
Dr. Neil DeGrag Heissy - Famed astronomer.
Anthony DeCurtis - Writer for Rolling Stone.
They will get 30 seconds to help Todd out. If
he uses Double Dip, he has two chances to answer
the question. But he commits himself to the
question. This next question is worth $500,000.
A wrong question, especially given the Double
Dip lifeline. "I'm not going to make a single
joke," Todd says on the freeball. Time to go to
the 3 Wise Men. They get the question, and
Nancy's thinking "Herman's Head", "because it
was kind of an out there series." Todd Double
Dips. He tries "Get a Life" first... His
hunch... was wrong. He makes his final answer...
"Herman's Head"... Eventually.
Nancy was right for $500,000! Now, completely
on his own, here is the $1,000,000 question.
Todd has no idea, so he walks with $500,000.
Would make for great TV if he went for it. But
it would also make for poor TV if he lost.
Correct answer was C. Okay. Empty hot seat.
Let's fill it. Here's the next Fastest Finger
question...
|

earliest. |
|
A:

|

D:
Tubthumping |
Correct order: B, C, A, D again. Fastest time
goes to... Robert Essig (5.55)!
ROBERT
ESSIG Ashtabula, OH
Trying to get in the hot seat for years, his
mother-in-law, in the audience above him, calls
him "Bobbo", because "that's a Bobbo." Now Bobbo
wants a stake at $10,000,000. He starts at
$1000.

Bobbo is very much the metrosexual for $4000.
For the guaranteed $5000...
Stumped, Bobbo goes for his ATA. The audience
gets a majority out as 68 percent say
Massachusetts. He'll go with that, and he'll get
the $5000!
Stumped, Bobbo goes for his ATA. The audience
gets a majority out as 68 percent say
Massachusetts. He'll go with that, and he'll get
the $5000! Now onto $10,000.
He rules out all but B, the right answer for
$10,000. Now to $20,000.
He thanks his wife, a former nursing student,
for the $20,000. And we have the air-raid
sirens, and you know what those mean. Robert
returns tomorrow for a shot at $30,000.
