We did the majority of this IPA at a council-wide event.
Skill Builder:
SB #1: We selected some warm-up exercises to prepare for
participation in dance activities (we actually did several dance activities
throughout the day).
SB #4: We learned 3 dances from 3 countries in different
parts of the world. We learned the history behind these dances. We learned
Medieval dances from Europe, Scottish highland and folk dances, and Indian
belly dances. Later we performed these for younger girls at the event and
helped them to learn the steps.
SB #6: We choreographed our own dance routine, selected the
music from several available tapes, and performed the dance for the other
scouts in attendance.
Technology:
T #5: We talked with three dancers and found out about
their preparations required for their performances.
Service Projects:
SP #1: We prepared a dance to demonstrate and explain the
history of to younger girls at our Juliette Gordon Low Birthday Event on
10/30/1997.
Career Exploration:
CE #3: We saw a dance performance and found the titles of
jobs of people involved in the production. Later on we also attended a ballet
performance and met some of the ballerinas backstage.
CE #5: We brainstormed as a group the careers/jobs related
to dance. We made up a game that younger girls could play. The game was given to
our council to be used at the end of this event and later on.
If
your troop has completed this IPA, and would like to share what you did.
