INDIA Derives its name from the river ;INDUS (SIND). India measures 3,241km from North to South and 2,993km from East to West with a total land area of 3,287,263 sq.km. It has a land frontier of 15,200 km and a coastline of 7,516.5km. Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal and Lakshadweep (Island), in the Arabian Sea are parts of the territory of India. India bordered with Bangladesh and Myanmar (Burma) on the East and Pakistan on the West. China, Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan are on; the Northern boarder. India lies to the North of the equator between 8.4 deg. to 37.6deg. North latitude and 68.7deg. to 97.25deg. east longitude. |
