  PLEASE NOTE: the GemStone III software was recently updated to
  a new version: 2.0!  There may be some instability during this
  "settling in" period, so please bear with us while we track down 
  any bugs, and smooth out the system speed.
 
  
                           ** IMPORTANT ** 
  
Because of some database problems, if you were playing GemStone early
on Sunday you may be told that you need a new character when you log in
to GemStone (even though you have already rolled one up).  DON'T PANIC.  
<smile>  Your old character is still intact.
  
What you should do in this case is to go ahead and roll up a "throwaway"
character, and then type ASSIST in order to request the attention of a
GameMaster.  We will need the first and last names of your old (correct)
character and your current character, and then we will ask you to log off
for a few minutes while we fix things in the database.
  
Please accept our sincere apologies for this inconvenience.
