| The Governor's School public policy class is a senior seminar dedicated to understanding and becoming active in public policy. During the first semester, we focused on water policy in Virginia and the development of a statewide water plan. Our focus for the second semester will be publicizing a little-known tax credit on small political contributions. The class's focus corresponds to the specialty of the MLW Governor's School, which is government and international studies. Recent Events: On Wednesday, February 26, the class met with Dr. Bill Murray, Virginia's deputy director of policy, to discuss a campaign to promote the tax credit. On Monday, January 13th, the class spent a day at the General Assembly shadowing lobbyists with the Vectre Corporation. We observed the work of a lobbyist, several committee meetings, and a Senate session. |
