Songs/Graces
It occurred to me at recent Service Unit events that many of us (girls and adults included) do not know the words to traditional Girl Scout songs and graces.  As I come upon these, i will publish them.  But for the moment, here are some:
Wheneer You Make a Promise
When eer you make a promise
Consider well its importance
And when made engrave it upon your heart.
Linger
MMM I want to linger
MMM A little longer
MMM A little longer here with you
MMM Its such a perfect night
MMM It doesnt seem quite right
MMM This is my last night here with you
MMM And some September
MMM We will remember
MMM Our camping days and friendships true
MMM And as the years go by
MMM Ill think of you and sign
MMM This is good night and not good bye!
Hey Daisy
To the tune of bicycle built for two
Daisy, Daisy, I always know its true  (hold hands and sway in a circle)
You're so happy and you are friendly too,  (Big smiles and all walk to center with raised hands)
You know the Girl Scouts Promise
You know the Girl Scout Law (Show Girl Scout sign with right hand)
You sing and play and learn each day (clap on the word play, tap head on the word learn)
I think the world of you (Hold hands and sway in a circle)

The Brownie Song

I've got something in my pocket that belongs across my face,
and I keep it very close at hand  in the most convenient place.
I'm sure you'll never guess it if you guess a long long while,
So I'll take it out and I'll put it on
It's a great big BROWNIE SMILE.

Variation:
I've got something in my pocket that I found behind a log,
My leader says to put it back but I want to keep this frog.
It's cool and green and slimy and it wiggles in my hand
I've even got a wooly worm and a pocket full of sand.
Lollipop Grace

We thank Thee, Lord, for a hundred things.
For the flowers that bloom and the birds that sing.
For the sun that shines nad the rain that drops.
For ice cream and raisins and lollipops.
God Our Father
to the tune of Frere Jacques
God, our Father, God our Father,
Once again, Once again,
We would ask Thy blessing, we would ask Thy blessing.
Amen, Amen.
Native American Grace
May the God above (arms reach high)
As in the future (arms in front of you)
As in the past (arms behind you)
Bring to our hearts (hands crossed over your heart)
Much (roll hands) Love!
We Know, We Know
to the tune of Hi Ho
We know, we know,
From whom all blessings flow
We thank him then
We say Amen
We know, we know!
Day Time Taps
Thanks and praise, for our days.
neath the sun,
'neath the stars,
neath the sky.
As we go, this we know,
God is nigh.
Taps is a song we all know. Even our youngest Brownies recognize the tune.  But, do you know the actual history and the words?  Click here and you can learn how this universally used song came into existence, as well as the original lyrics.
