| This is a step by step guide to character creation for Garic's City. Open up note pad to do this. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Step 4: Select a class. Any class found in the Revised 3.5 Player's Handbook is acceptable. Or you can select two apprentice classes from page 40 of the 3.0 DMG. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Step 1: Make sure you have your game material available to reference. Approved literature are: The Revised 3.5 Player's Handbook. The information can also be found here. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Step 5: Skills and Feats. Select the skills and feats you want your character to have. All characters get one feat at level 1. Humans get a bonus racial feat and an extra set of skill points. Fighters get a bonus fighter feat. Tip: Take a Craft, Perform, or Profession Skill to have a source of revenue. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Step 2: Choose a race. All races in the Revised 3.5 Player's Handbook at allowed, those not found there are not. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Step 3: Calculate your attributes. In Garic's City, attributes are calculated using the Standard Point Buy with 32 Points to distribute. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Step 6: Purchasing Equipment. Starting gold is calculated by class (or primary class for apprentice characters). |

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Clerics and Paladins should reference the 3rd post here. Sorcerers and Wizards should reference the 4th post here. Sorcerers and Wizards may not start with a familiar. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Step 7: Calculating Hit Points. Hit Points at level 1 are your Hit Dice maximized (or primary apprentice level). There after you get hit points as per this chart: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| After you have all of that done, it should be ordered in: Character name. Fluff about character Name again, with alignment, race, class Height, Weight, Gender, Hair color, eye color Attributes (please include the points you spent so that it is easier to confirm that you weren't under or over) (Str, Dex, Con, Int, Wis, Cha) Skill Ranks Languages: Common + Racial, +1/Int Positive Modifier. Feats. Make sure you meet the requirements. Exotic Weapon Proficiency, Quick Draw, Weapon Finesse, and Weapon Focus all require a BAB of +1. Class Features -Including weapon proficiencies (just say the weapon classes, and armor types). -"Spells" if you can cast spells -Any special features. Equipment: (total weight / light encumbrance) Coins: What is left. |

| Keep track of your .5. While you don't get any bonus from having half a hit point, it does add with the next half you get. So 13.5 hp now could be 17 hit points next level (if you got 3.5 more). Add your Con Modifier to each level. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Step 8: Fluff. Fluff includes everything that has no direct function to the game. Including (from most to least important): Name, Alignment, Gender, Height, Weight, Hair Color, and Eye Color. Also include a paragraph on the character's motivations. Is your character greedy, giving, tempermental, vengeful, forgiving... Also recommended is a paragraph about the character's past. Word of experience, "Try to make it small scale." Getting chased and beaten up by a bunch of over protective brothers is more realistic for a level 1 character than being run out of town by half the local guard. |
