Rod -
there is a place called cafe borrone, which is on el camino, going north, right
before the menlo park train station (applewood pizza is on the left for
reference). it is pretty casual - some
indoor seating and then a bunch of outdoor tables. it is the sort of place that you order at the counter, so not
really any table service. food was
pretty good the few times i've been.
Zibbibo in Kipling, Palo Alto
Hobees, check www.hobees.com, for their sites in Palo Alto
Joanie's
on California ave. in Palo Alto
A place called "Late for the Train" on Middlefield Road,
between Palo Alto and Menlo Park
I suggest
you check out Joanie's Cafe on California Ave in midtown PA.
rod - hobee's is good. i've
only been to the one down in mountain view, but it's probably safe to say that
the one right next to campus should be as good
Hobee's
is far and away the best local joint for a casual breakfast/brunch. Several locations, including Town and
Country Village (across El Camino from the Stadium).
hobees in town and country is the best by far
Hobee's
in Town & Country Village or Joanie's on California Ave off El Camino.
"Old" House of Pancakes near Los Altos 650-559-9197
Zibibbo in downtown Palo Alto has good Sunday brunch.
A really
cool brunch spot is Buck's in Woodside.
It's a historical landmark in the land of the VC's and is only about 10
minutes from here.
Dinah's Poolside Cafe (south Palo Alto).... for those times when
Hobees is too crowded...
Hobee's
The
Cookbook Restaurant
Late for the Train, is on Middlefield just north of Willow, on the
east side of the road (hard to see but find it!) -- has yummy, organic and
lovely brunch fare.
Hobee's
in Town and Country Village
&
Good Earth on University
late for the train (casual place)
cafe brioche (more upscale)
there are
two places inside the town and country village (el camino and embarcardero)
that are quite good. one is hobee's
(it's a local chain famous for it's blueberry cake) and the other is cook book
restaurant (i had brunch there and it was excellent).
Il Fornaio
Hobee's
Hong Kong Flower Lounge - dim sum
Hey...Hobees
(as you probably already know) is a classic.
Late for the Train, less well known and really good is also pretty
convenient (about 7 min drive or so).
Look forward to hearing what else you come up with...
Nice place:
Circadia, 518 bryant Street
Palo Alto: Good choice of brunches, jazz bands on Sunday mornings.
Usually not too crowded, you won't have to wait.
Place that really sucks:
Cafe Brioche: California Street. Unfriendly people, expensive and
noisy.
The
University Coffee Cafe (271 University) has great fare and a lively brunch
scene.
Late for the Train in Menlo Park is pretty good.
Il Fornaio has a great brunch.
Hobee's is always a good place.
Hobees. Two locations: Town and Country and down on El Camino (to the
South).
hobees in town&country, on el camino, on corner of rengstorff
& alma (3 locations)
stacks in redwood city (el camino past whipple)
late for the train in menlo park (middlefield & willow)
my man,
how much do you want to spend?
Great
Brunch - Il fornaio $$$ - cowper and University downtown PA
great
Diner - Penisula Creamery $$ - Emerson & Hamilton downtown PA
perennial
favorite - Hobees - town and country mall - el camino
highly
