"WELCOME TO THE QUICK-DRAW GAME THAT EVERYONE CAN PLAY!"
WIN, LOSE, OR DRAW
A Burt & Bert Production in association with Kline & Friends
air dates: 9/7/87-9/1/89 on NBC daytime, syndicated 9/87-9/90 by Buena Vista Television
hosts: Vicki Lawrence (NBC), Bert Convy (syn. '87-'89), Robb Weller (syn. '89-'90)
announcers: Bob Hilton ('87-'88), Gene Wood ('87-'90)

HOW TO PLAY:
Two teams, each made up of two celebrities and a contestant, competed in a game of sketchpad charades. In the first round on the syndicated version, one player from a team was shown a phrase or quotation and was given one minute to draw images on a 3'x4' pad in order to convey the right answer. No words or numbers were allowed, however, if any part of the correct answer was mentioned by the guessers, the drawer may write it on the pad. If the two guessers identified the phrase, the contestant earned $200. After 30 seconds, the drawer could, at any time, hand off to one of the teammates, but the value for a correct guess dropped to $100. If time ran out, the other team had 5 seconds to guess the phrase and steal the same money. On the NBC run, the first round involved players drawing clues to a puzzle. When time was up the team attempted to solve the puzzle.
In the second round, each team had a minute to guess a person, place, thing, phrase, etc. sent in by a home viewer. Any answers guessed correctly were autographed and sent to the home viewer.
In the speed round, one member of each team had 90 seconds to convey as many words as possible. Each correct guess earned the contestant $100 ($50 from '89-'90). Each team was allowed to pass twice. After each team played the speed round, the contestant who earned the most money earned another $1,000. If it ended in a tie, each contestant earned another $500.
From '89-'90 on the syndicated show, the winning team played a bonus round. The team had 90 seconds to guess 7 words. The first right answer was worth $50 with each one after that doubling the money. The team could pass as many times as needed. However, any bonus money accumulated up to that point was lost, not affecting the number of correct answers given. Nevertheless, seven correct answers in 90 seconds would win the contestant $5,000!

OTHER TIDBITS:
Vicki Lawrence starred on The Carol Burnett Show as well as its sitcom spinoff, one of my favorite shows, Mama's Family.

The set of
WLoD was modeled after the living room of one of the show's creators, Hollywood star, and Bert Convy's good friend, Burt Reynolds.

Robb Weller also co-hosted
Home on ABC in the early '90s.
