HOW TO PLAY:

Two players competed to identify different words and names as being described by elementary-school-aged children in prerecorded interviews. In the first round, one player was shown a clip and tried to identify what the child was describing. A correct answer scored one point. If (s)he was wrong, a clip of another child describing the same word was played, but the other player was allowed a guess. A wrong guess here allowed the first player one last guess. After time ran out in the first round, the game continued into the Fast Play round, in which both players watched a clip of a child describing a specific word. Whoever buzzed with a correct answer scored 2 points. Buzzing in with a wrong answer allowed the other player a free guess. When time expired, the player with the highest score won $500 and a chance at another $5,000.

The first bonus round played was called Triple Play, in which the player had to guess six words in 45 seconds, each from three definitions written by three children. The player scooped up $100 for each correct guess or $5,000 for negotiating six.

"(One of the Turnabout kids introduced himself by name, hometown and grade or age.) YOU'LL MEET (whoever) AND THESE OTHER KIDS TODAY AS WE PLAY THE GAME OF KIDS AND DEFINITIONS, CHILD'S PLAY!"
Six months into the run, Triple Play was replaced by Turnabout, in which the winner must describe 7 words to five children within 45 seconds. If the kids guessed seven subjects correctly between them, the contesant won $5,000 and each child earned $200. If unsuccessful, each word awarded $100 to the contestant and $20 to each kid.

Each champion was limited to a 5-day reign.
