A Mark Burnett Production in association with Zoo Productions air dates: 2/27/07-present on Fox primetime host: Jeff Foxworthy HOW TO PLAY: One contestant attempts to answer 11 questions from the 1st-5th grade levels and win $1,000,000 with help from 6 5th-grade students. The contestant chooses one 5th-grader to be his/her classmate for the first 2 questions. The player picks one of 10 subjects, 2 different subjects for each of 1st-5th grade, displayed on the screen. The player and the classmate are both asked the same question and the classmate secretly writes his/her answer on a slate with an electronic pen. If the player wishes, (s)he may use a "cheat" before locking in with an answer. Each "cheat" may be used only once during the game. Peek: The player may see the classmate's answer. Copy: The player must lock in with the classmate's answer. Save: If the player locks in with a wrong answer, the classmate's answer must be correct in order for the player to continue in the game. After every 2 questions, the player must choose a new classmate. The prize money for each correct answer increases as follows, starting at the bottom of the left column and then the right column: |
If the player wins $500,000, (s)he is then given the subject for the $1,000,000 question before deciding whether or not to risk $475,000. In September '08, Georgia's state school superindentent Kathy Cox became the frist contestant to state "I AM smarter than a 5th grader!" The player may "drop out" after any question and protect his/her winnings. If (s)he misses any of the first five questions, (s)he wins nothing. HOWEVER, if the player wins $25,000, (s)he is guaranteed to win at least that much money. However, it is a custom for a player who fails to win the top prize to face the camera and admit to the whole world that "I am not smarter than a 5th grader!"
