February 22, 2003 was World Thinking Day! For this special day we had the opportunity to participate in a wonderful Area Event, a Discovery Day!
We started out by learning about the Girl Guides of New Zealand. At first, we were a little confused, we thought we were Australia but a bright Cadette P.A. set us on the right track by explaining the differences between the Australian and New Zealand Flags. They are the same design, but New Zealand has red stars and Australia has white.
Girl Guides ages 7-10 1/2 are called Brownies, just like us. Their uniforms are shades of blue. In New Zealand they speak English and Maori. "Kia Ora" means 'Hello' in Maori.
A Discovery Day is an event that allows girls & adults alike to explore new things. The girls were given the opportunity to choose from many different classes. All of which were an absolute blast!
STAMPING
Other Classes included: Folk & Country Dancing, Indoor & Outdoor Cooking, Woodworking, Origami, Ceramics, Jewelry Galore, Harry Potter, Sign Language and much, much more...
One of our favorite classes was Hairstyling. Almost all of the girls had the opportunity to get an 'Updo' by some Professional Hair Artists.
