Journey to the Red

And so it comes to pass,
Humanity wanes on it's wanton waste,
See red dust how it would last.
Time to spread it's poisonous taste.

Technology ensures travel eternal,
Let's devour this arid world,
Mars will welcome us, tis a world fraternal.
Let our true ambitions be unfurled.

Knowledge unbound unveileing our past,
The stepping stone now succourly Christened,
Humanity's grace is now glad to last.
Humankind now surely to glisten.

Outpost ready to examine new worlds,
At last our conquerers ready to spread,
Your knowledge please be now unfurled.
We will not rest till our new friends dead.

Drown in air

Breathless and sighing, ventricles closing,
Believing you are fine is a sign that is cozen.
Breathing hampered it is a new nightmare,
Nothing to do but drown in air.

Release is a saviour a pump that is blue,
The purpose is simple release the gloom.
For a moment at least the lungs are free,
Breathing in deep could be the key.

Set insidem the chest is on fire,
Steroid use may help quell this pyre.
A brown inhaler, breathe and swallow,
With constant use may lead to no sorrow.

Hope that you never endure this miasma,
This dreaded affliction with the name of asthma.
Prodded and poked in the chest department,
Sectioned away in a defined compartment.

Out of the hole

Grey barricades and rooms all dark,
No freedom here just disappear and forget.
Regimen and doctrine tested and passed,
Personality the same, idiosyncrasies quashed.

Helpless and forgotten an easy prey,
Persecutors of anger on her majesty's wage
A whisper and an aside, is there a way out?
To see the life once again, must strive to delve.

All together a motley mob to attack,
Screws thrown down go and break down the door.
Sentence barely started is it worth the risk?
Don't want to stay here and be some macho bitch.

Bright halos and sunshine at last are seen.
The law is waiting and melancholy returns.

Chilled

Numb it feels no heat with no soul,
A white haze is the vista a veil of ice,
Freezing and biting so plain so dull.
The grip ever tightens in a fist and a vice.

Vehicles abandoned and hidden deep away,
Haunting and surreal the wind adds its voice
The owners return when welcome heat holds sway.
Staying inside and cosy would be a wise choice.

The impecunious and weak are ever at risk,
The marrow does crack at the gnawing cold,
Mr Frosty takes them down with his deadly kiss.
Ageing and chapping are the virtues now sold.

All slows down very little now moves,
Safety not coming when walking a hound.
Tracks in the white, furrowed out grooves.
Freezing lakes conquer with barely a sound.

The sun at last blazes heralding a thaw,
White now cracks and splinters anew,
Spring at last comes through its seasons door.
Yielding at last to warm morning dew.

The Husk

Eyes shut but open, not seeing much at all,
body ruined after a ruinous fall.
Angels in white eager to tend to the side,
The living cadaver on this bed resides.

Tenuous chains still linger to this life,
Waiting to be severed by deaths kind knife.
Memories forgotten the brain all but spent,
Family members still not to able to lament.

The spirit is gone and watches from afar,
Still unable to catch the distant star.
The breathing is contant a rasp and a hiss,
A distant relic that none shall now kiss.

The torture goes on remaining in dusk,
The pitiful existence of this poor cursed husk.

Easy Meat

The prey ahead the trap is set,
Three muggers ready cash to get.
She looks behind her pursuers follow,
Hooded jackets no capture tomorrow.

A darkened alley no-ones around,
The ladies jumped upon and threats abound.
"Give us your money and we want your phone."
If she disobeys she'll never get home.

Her pockets are rifled roughly she's spread,
Thirty pounds and a nokia, the hungers fed.
Threats follow don't call the police,
We'll come and find when we are released.

Here it is the urban decay,
The easiest way to earn their pay.

Looking at a blank screen with no idea,
The neural network searching for something clear,
Oneiric images scream through the mind,
Still no poetry can I find.

Stymied and puzzled nothing comes to pass,
I just start typing I'm off at last.
The synaptic flow and ideas unleashed,
Barriers destroyed writing released.

The creators joy at another invention,
Mental exercise the release of tension.

Crumpled up and left on the shelf,
A fuzzy world hidden of its wealth.
Sit below a troublesome brow,
Visions clear don't wonder how.

Window to the world so true, so bright,
Through rheumy eyes there is true sight.
Careless hands and cast aside,
Tough enough to stay beside.

The blur returns at nightimes call,
Meeting the floor thanks to a fall.

Many years past since you went to void,
A welcoming message all were overjoyed.
The journey was endless and you passed out of mind
Radars listened hard for the benefit of mankind.

Strange lights in the sky none can explain,
And it may come one day the interstellar brain.
Humanity expectant for their bright new guests,
The visitors prospect a new world all to our regret.

A bright young star ready for new alien life,
The primitive beings now set for the cosmic knife.

Ride the fury

Body now strong and shaping up,
Seeking wisdom from the drillmasters cup.
Established journeyman, fodder for the young,
Modern day gladiators now feast on this dung.

The hero's entrance to the warriors pit,
How long will it be before he is hit?
Gloves laced up and now disrobed,
Obeying now the Queensbury code.

The journeyman gets put down at the first bell,
Victory to the champ a career now to sell.

Onwards with merry dialogue,
Ignoring sterile monologue.
Peepers in the aisles,
Ending all the smiles.

Prevaricated for liberty,
Nowhere for this levity,
Assiduous is the doom now,
Or to the big room for a row.

Flappers zipped shut and quiet,
Shhhh or they'll be a riot!

Valentine - A cynical I

So once again the emotion of love,
Deliriously happy a force from above.
Delusions of spending to seal the heart,
Ever fearful of being torn callously apart.

Partners forever is what we believe,
Are sure you're not being cruelly deceived?
Loved up goods soaring at high price,
Feb the 14th who needs that vice?

Once it's all over it's back to the norm,
Arguing and friction and another is born.

Detachment

To be immersed in celluloid vision,
Unbelievable odds the gaming mission.
Slaughter for points and baseless pleasure,
Eye candy resplendant a visual treasure.

Amity gone a social pariah,
In the omniverse becoming an heroic messiah.
Reality and fiction the boundaries narrow,
Then a link which chills the marrow.

The puritans come to quell affront to Jehovah,
Then it will come this game is now over.

Maybe

Thoughts muddled not knowing what to do,
All its life it could follow you.
Left and right look up straight,
Follow the mob it would ease this weight,

A leader needed to show the way,
Out on its own no doubts at bay.
Cant cope with direction its bound to go wrong,
In circular motions life leads on so on.

The laughing ghoul

Tragedy strikes in some distant land,
A plaintive mood purveys all those unmanned.
Then we hear laughter from an unmasked fool,
You've met him before the laughing ghoul.

The baser the thoughts the more he will dig,
Merriment from despair is his terrible gig.
Always a crowd guffaws at his jibes,
The entertainer cheered as the decorum dies.

The hypocrisy of all cracked and warped,
Tragedy again and cruelty now bought.

Blubber

So much fare all to devour,
Overindulgence is king in this gluttonous hour.
The elite substance made from a cow,
Tastebuds excited pleasure is now.

Inflated trenchermen now fill the land,
Emotions of ennui the harvest at hand.
Hordes of young men likened to whales,
Their bellies full pregnant with ale.

Hosts of the nation lying flat on the back,
Soon to be victims of a mass heart attack.

Always

Each day a breath taken a bonus on Earth,
Departing soon but remember the mirth.
Plaintive and dark will be the days that will come,
Freedom from pain now the days are now numb.

Mourn and farewell this life is now spent,
But remember the happiness don't stay in lament.
In dreams we live on and can evolve,
At elysiums door our spirits always revolve.

When the feelings are warm and all is calm,
Always at the side keeping from harm.

This was a really hard piece to write and was dedicated to someone whose son has terminal cancer, this could easily be interpreted for anyone suffering with a terminal disease.

Blue world story

From sols great cauldron did the creator toil,
Sparklers and rocks came clamouring to boil.
Tempests and anger did finally quell,
Amoebas and trilobytes formed simple cells.

Giant frogs and newts jumped out from the blue,
Titanic lizards then took over from new.
A giant thunder came and mammals were king.
Then clever apes and civilizations did spring.

Destroyed himself ultimately the simian fool,
Then demon sun came to end it all.

Forgotten

There was a time when our laughter was heard,
Magic folk were we and were not disturbed,
Children played gaily and we took part,
These fairies now forgotten and we lose heart.

Alone in the compost no one hears our wings,
A cacophony of traffic silences when we do sing.
Mother nature abandoned to relics of stone,
Playstations and telly have usurped our home.

There is one piece of magic that we can no do,
We now disappear old passes to new.

Midweek comes time to play,
Dutch courage born a team to slay.
A ball is kicked tackles fly in,
A net bulges out the enemy will win.

The duel is over the war is not done,
Slit throat gestures now for violent fun.
A warzone ensues the away fans run,
It will be tomorrows headlines in the Sun.

Villains arrested due to the cameras eye,
Going to jail and then the beasts do cry.

Cogs

Assidious and steadfast are what you want from me,
To obey and perform with great alacrity.
To the best of my ability I fulfill my task,
To be only a unit behind the firms false mask.

We should be content within this role,
The threat everpresent to join the dole.
The ennui and suffering are the assets I've earned,
Believe in the slogans and I'll be preserved.

To be a pawn in a pawns ridiculous game,
Oh to be an author and be never the same.

The Fearful End

Oh I know it comes this place that I ignore,
Inevitable is the call that awaits the hidden door.
Shamelessly I press on knowing it is there,
Oh I know it comes to send us to despair.

The great dread inside I've endured this before,
The vicious doom is coming and chills me to the core.
My life is as a camera this film is nearly done,
The spool is almost empty and now death will surely come.

Great torture will come and vex me and tear from this world.
Thrown down the long tunnel to see what's been unfurled.

Unreachable

Ahead of me you are desire unfulfilled,
Adoration and life hidden unrevealed.
Unable to call out a gag of fearful rope,
A coward always dreaming of foolish spoony hope.

Silence is stifling still unable to say,
Aspirations quietened there's always another day.
The invisible cage in front the heart will not through,
A single church inevitable a fruit that I will rue.

Your pultritude is lessening this love now long lost,
Shirking instead of striving alone to count the cost.

The image sharp and so well known,
So special they feel ignorant to woe,
Pedestals they sit aloof and afar,
Yet just as mortal this unreal bazaar.

Distant from reality expecting the best,
Abhorrent behaviour that most will detest.
Wasteful extravagance a parasite who feeds,
Sycophants expectant flattering the greed.

These living gods live through the media screen,
They only expire when they're no longer seen.

Yawnzzzz

Days long and energy spent,
Starved of sleep a sorry lament.
Eyes blackened in fallen sockets,
Toiling ever to fulfil pockets.

Interest gone and going strong,
Sleep shortened so body wronged.
To rest at last early morning,
Repose is over for am calling.

Senses dimmed and topped with aches,
Energy restored with cornflakes.

Run Down

I knew it would happen to be run down,
A sore throat has invaded my personal town,
Copious water runs from the nose,
Paracetamol needed, don't exceed the dose.

A fearful effort to do any small task,
These drugs aren't working hope this feeling will pass.
The stomach is whirling it wants no fuel,
The pleasures of infection when the climate is cool.

Still it persists this infectious cold,
A few days at least before it's effects will be sold.

Powerless

Running loosely upon hung wires,
Ever continuing serving desires.
Then it happens it's run and all gone,
Can't cope, cant cope it's all gone wrong.

The world has stopped all are milling around,
Rage encompasses and we look to the ground.
Ancestors before heeded not this worry,
No need of clever boxes for all those in a hurry.

The wealthy among us scream for power,
They're reduced to poverty in their darkened tower.

Thirst

The calling strong to frustrated soldiers,
A cause taken and thus become bolder.
Angry souls to take the glory,
The rest left with all things gory.

Bloodlust unfrequented to fulfil aims,
On bloodied corpses to seek and gain.
Notoriety assured just look to the media,
Exposure taken crimes will be meatier.

So just what are the fiends ambitions,
When all is empty fed to terrors' mission.

Stickybox

There was a time when people spoke,
Now many become sedentary folk.
Sat in a chamber perfectly still,
Slaves now to the tv pill.

Never now do some venture out,
Talk gone away no words to spout.
Real world vanished to a holy screen,
Social mingling what does that mean?

The addiction complete the eyes are stuck,
A great big plasma would be wondrous luck.

Suddenly

Socially enjoying a night of adventure,
Gaiety and joy this risky venture.
The kerb comes to the carriage all to fast,
Over it spills and all are aghast.

You heart beats swift and you scream in pain,
Are your allies with you as blood seeps as rain.
A blue lamp blinks and you are borne away,
Friends are deleted yet you hold sway.

The axiom hits you, you're all that's left.
Alone and desolate and truly bereft.

London Tawn

Tis is a silly tale about life in the smoke,
South of the river such cheerful folk.
The cheapest site on the monopoly board,
The Old Kent Road is to where I am called.

Heading on north to the elephant and castle,
Soon to become a derelict parcel.
Choose your bridge to cross the great water,
Old Father Thames who'll give absolutely no quarter.

Black carriages to take you for a little trip,
The prices they charge may make you flip!
Psychotic buses and drivers that don't stop,
The bloody tower ought to be their final drop.

Parliament and West End aint to far away,
Get your chequebook out and prepare to pay.
Apologies to loads that I've not mentioned,
But if anyone reads this I'll probably be sectioned!

Illumination

Here I sit ideas bright but yet dulled,
Quiet my existence but still it is cold.
These writings are shackled true but yet chained,
The strategies of life make sure that I stay refrained.

Ever I dwell upon what may yet come,
Novels and poetry hidden to what will be done.
For when I am unleashed these chains will be broken,
In higher echelons will my deeds will be spoken.

I am no poet just a storyteller at heart,
Just hear my indulgences and let emotions fall apart.

Interminable

Instants come and swiftly go,
Unseeing seasons pass to and fro.
Creation to destruction life's endeavour,
Memories etched but not forever.

Tiny we are almost not seen,
To the great plan what does it mean?
Tempus fugit this earth man's cycle soon gone,
But a tiny planet in the cosmic throng.

To distant stars seen yet now dead,
Event horizons are to what they are fed.

Twas many years that passed this way,
When naive and inane you stashed away,
Friend seemed fair and took the toil,
Forgot and waited for golden oil.

Time passed by and the dull realisation,
That you've been duped to poor capitalisation.
Funds in chaos a clever wise fool,
The pot you saved is an empty pool.

A prophet comes to advise on profit,
Keep your hands off you'll not have them quaff it!
Banking jargon now tires the brain,
Can't even forget to ease the strain.

Just a little place

Little worm feeds in the bowels,
Comes to air through earthen brows,
Avian death unseen above,
Nesting in a tree the hungry doves.

A chick fails in its bid for flight,
Tigger comes along for an easy bite.
Drops the bait and chased by Rex,
Of home to a kennel is what comes next.

Pat on the head called a good boy,
The human master hands over a toy.
Domestic joy in the friendly home,
Mans off to work and able to roam.

Existence over on to pastures' new
Back to the worm from where this poem grew.

Embrace

Two flowering buds so far away,
These saplings must meet on one treasured day.
Some innocent, some aged the urge so strong,
Through the jungle of souls to seek where to belong.

Then it comes at last the twinkle of eyes,
Together at last a joyous surprise.
The journey now over life's mission now done,
Bliss forever to summery fun.

Ne'er be parted till the call of life's end.
When they return they'll find each other again.

Monochrome Cloud

Stifling and close to the head,
All have one so it's said.
A monochrome cloud just slightly above,
Surest thing to dull any love.

Ever is rain to pour scorn on hope,
No sun ever shines alone to mope.
Irascible and wretched this invisible thing,
Ever grey is all it has been.

A brief crack of light from a rainbow may come,
But the cloud will return to ruin such fun.
The only joy it needs is when it's fulfilled its quest,
Realisation at last your truly depressed.

Unseen

As silent as mist hunting in black guise,
Prey feeds rustling unaware of surprise.
Hunger gnaws within for this violent display,
To be dismembered in a sanguine way.

The distance now short still no fear of the end,
The rainbow bridge is awaiting unable to defend.
A scream is stifled the attack has begun,
Organs mortally punctured the hunter has won.

Natures fierce weapon has sprung from this house,
My cat has just silenced an unwanted mouse.

The Tiger

Hailed to speak but nothing spouts through,
Silence and silence are habits held true.
A muddle ensues in a clear thought mind,
A barbed wire throat which no speech will unwind.

Assertiveness courses to unlock that door,
Determined to SHOUT and not whimper but roar.
Always others can subdue the quiet man,
Now the moment comes to join a new clan.

Mouth gapes open and words ready to form,
The barbed wire still there and the whispers stillborn.
Face the facts habits wont change,
If ever it did would be ever so strange.

The weekend that was is what I feel,
The West Indies crumbled to England's new deal.
Then the telly turns to the F.A cup,
Millwall to Cardiff some will find that tough!

I rub my eyes and wait for normality's return,
The papers affirm what I have now learned.
Here's a prediction to make you wonder,
This will tear the rule books truly asunder.

Australia fail in their ashes quest,
Millwall conquer Europe, whatever next?

Treading Metal

Sat within a metal cage,
Key inserted core engage.
Eyes left, eyes right, eyes central,
Look left again move intentional.

Pedal down no stopping,
Break last second engine popping.
Flick switch yet more power,
Destination reached less than hour.

Radio on hard rock and noise,
Passing anything that annoys,
Hour late just get home,
Car abandoned sleeping chrome

Defence unwinnable trials uncountable,
Power is won rebellion insurmountable.
Riches lush to the victor,
The defeated embrace the constrictor.

New ideology the religion,
Vanquished to hunted pigeon.
New realm to plunder,
Old order cast asunder.

Praise to new king,
Objection to thick string.

Break the egg

Sitting still wrapped and alone,
Grabbed off the shelf taken home.
Lavishly gazed at prey to starving,
Out comes a spoon ritual carving.

Wrapping off chocolate now bare,
Mouth gaped stuffed with no care.
Belly now inflated give more fat,
New eggs to devour to the greedy rat.

Gnawed away the shell now gone,
Throat gagging to a gluttonous song.

Mindflare

Delving deep in a befuddled head,
A great king born then life to the dead.
Image gone to a talking mouse,
Normality check leads to nuclear house.

Flushed thoughts lead to life impecunious,
Next to come a warrior most ruinous.
The glory gone a hermit alone,
A sportsman ready his skills well honed.

To be and become the eyes of a troll,
A dreamy world before the plunge to the hole.
Petrol and gas a noisome gasp,
Awakening now the dreams now past.

Time set quarter of an hour,
Prepare food via gas power.
Dishes and pans washed and dry,
Points of View, people might cry.

Go for a wander in the park,
Get back before it gets dark.
Boss says have a break,
Make sure you aint back late.

Hours tired have a quick booze,
Alarm rings, must hit snooze.

Deadline

Ignition on engine screams,
Customer wants fulfil their dreams.
Next drop is urgent can't be late,
Accelerator down, excessive rate.

Dodge the rules, despatch extreme,
POD made easy it seems,
Mobile sings another job,
Shortcut taken, seconds to rob.

Bus lane too far, an enemy unseen,
"Excuse me Sir, you seem a bit keen".
New career needed licence lost,
Reality bites, how much to cost.

A drive, home door.
Fatigued, cross floor.
Shoes discarded,
Energy departed.

Flop to the chair,
Now don't care.
In a somnablistic haze,
Crisps to graze.

Rest this head,
Off to bed.

Ziggeraut

Life almost past and now live alone,
Atop this tower a cold shallow home,
An epic journey over so many flights,
Elevator ruined a sorry sight.

Rackets aplenty I seldom venture,
Fearing the dark and oncoming dementia.
Thursday the highlight income to take,
Papers to read and crosswords to break.

Electricity shunned in case of a bill,
Fearing the cold in case it could kill.
Family talk behind forlorn walls,
I fear the home when the helper calls.

I'll make my stand in this ziggeraut of pain,
Till existence has passed and be reunited again.

Thunderstruck

Anytime, anywhere, it can suddenly attack you,
Unexpectedness draws and it frightens; BOO!
Drawn and transfixed, attraction grows,
Kismet helps and Cupid draws the bow.

Fate transpires and together you leave,
Your friend wanders off but you're not gonna grieve.
You pluck up the courage and ask her name,
Whatever it is, you're enchanted the same.

You fix a date upon the morrow,
Your life is planned, goodbye to sorrow.

This young man liked to belch,
A disgusting habit to squelch.
Filled with gas he lets rip,
An annoying sound to his lip

Then one day he burped too hard,
His tonsils flew out,
He had no doubt,

In the background holding tight,
Lollygagging beauties, nerves to fight.
Same position watch the show,
A lady emerges time to go.

A nervous fumble an untried youth,
Innocence taken by means uncouth.
Money exchanged she stays the night.
A crimson angel a comely sight.

Dawn breaks, so to depart,
Easiest way to sate the heart.

Don't turn the heater off

Healing current the soothing air,
Slowing down not a worry or care.
No-one notices, Earths heater now stops.
Biblical carnage our melting ice tops.

World then heated by dark dragon's breath,
A permafrost storm, weak now find death.
Terra newly formed a world of ice,
Us all victims of mans greedy vice.

Smoked away when he had the chance,
Won't be long when waltzed the last dance.

can't answer riddle.
Opportunity beckons,
Still can't reckon.

Phantom

Silent, he watches the game from afar.
By shyness' brush he's felt its tar.
Drinking and dancing this intoxicating throng,
Inhibitions prevent, just watch for so long.

The bar he sits alcohol no relief,
He's a sorry git now, that's his belief.
Invited and estranged he stays to one side,
No-one will care if he takes a night ride.

At last his chums come and say share a cab,
Just you make sure you take care of the tab.

Bottled beer, bacardi breezers.
Onto the floor girls and geezers.
I stand and watch the jiggling show,
Limbs contorted lust will grow.

Every weekend same ritual,
Looking now seems habitual.
Couples pair off to spend the night,
Unlucky ones prepare to fight.

It's the way of joyous release,
Not for I just give me peace.

Screaming Rubber

To be in the hold of my silver carriage,
Yet to be harried by suicidal marriage.
You know well of what I speak,
Insane bikers whose silence I seek.

Inside and out they scream to my marrow,
Through gaps I feel that are all to narrow!
Hairdryers to behemoths they attack from all sides,
I slink in my car from their aggression I cant hide.

This journey is bonkers I'm glad it's not far,
I'll be happy when I get out of car.

How I do wish for a simple life,
I aint no handyman just spare the strife.
Screwdrivers and ratchets what the hell are they?
The price for all this it's too much but hey.

So steer clear of self assembly lest you're a great engineer,
The tale to the rest of us is just fear oh dear!
