A major contributor too this downfall with the Diamond Necklace Affair. The whole affair delt with a con artist, Jeanne de la Motte, Cardinal de Rohan and a Marie Antoinette look alike. Although the real Queen had nothing to do with it, she was still rumored to have been involved. This affair only worstened her situation. |
