The song �Russians� is about how there is conflict between the two countries, the United States and the Soviet Union. It is talking about how there is propaganda being spread in the United States about the Russian people and government and vice versa in Russia. But the narrator is speaking about how all Russians and Americans are human beings and that they live and die and act in the same way but through this extended propaganda, the concept that the other inhabitants of the country are not humans is contrived. Throughout history, when there was war there was propaganda, not only to enhance the hatred and dislike towards the opposing countries but also to invoke a sense of nationalism. This song was a voice saying that the people are the same but the ideology of the people was different. The song also says how strong and powerful people and humans are and that inevitably the world could end because of these stupid threats. The concept of saving a world for children to grow up in is very interesting. |
