History of the Black Rock Raiders
Back to Home
Information written and compiled by Inquisitor Kruger. It is mostly based on speculation and legend. The captured Orks (Especially from the Black Rock Tribe) are reluctant to talk about it.

Intro
The Black Rock Raiders are an infamous Ork tribe. They are known for their rage and bloodlust in battle. They are also known for killing anything in their path including other Orks who are unfortunate enough to get in their way. Strangely though there is very little infighting in the tribe and a high code of battle honour. They are also know for their strategy, i.e. making a plan BEFORE the battle, cunning assaults and genius ambushes.
Note: Do not think that this strategy says any less of their Orkiness or of their ferocity in battle

Roots
The Black Rock Tribes origins begin when an ancient Waarghs hijacked Space Hulk: Morks Head crashed (Circa M27) upon the planet Black-Rock. During entry through the atmosphere parts of the space hulk tore off the main craft and were completely destroyed. The most notable of these was the War Bosses command centre. Obviously the Warboss was killed. When the survivors came to utter chaos ensued over the loss of their Warboss.
To find out who would lead the tribe a massive inter-Ork war began. For some reason not yet understood by the Inquisition the Goff Orks allied with the Blood Axes and began to summarily attack and destroy every other clan. Thus this tribe is not some random hodgepodge of clans but consists entirely of Goff and Blood Axe Orks. Obviously slaughtering the other tribes took a heavy toll on the Goffs and Blood Axes, the survivors took the heavy burden of rebuilding the tribe.

Rebirth
The survivors eventually rebuilt their society and their numbers swelled. Being Orks they of course wanted to conquer and expand their territory. They then began to reconstruct and rebuild their old Space Hulk. This took many years but when the Mekboys finally put the last bits on and readied the engines the Orks where ready to go. The Space Hulk lifted of the ground and began its slow journey to the nearest planet the Orks could find.

New Blood
Luckily the Orks were in a sector and not in some isolated world. The Orks landed on a nearby planet which, just like the rest of the sector (The Benson Sector in the Eastern Fringe), was just being colonized and the defenses consisted of some local Militia who were no match for the Orks. The colonists sent out a distress call. An entire company of Ultramarines answered this distress call. The Marines defeated the Orks but not before taking heavy casualties. The Ultramarines chased the Orks back to Black-Rock were they were told to brake off the engagement. After this a Regiment of Imperial Guard was dispatched to finish the job. This regiment was completely destroyed down to the last man in a typical display of Orkoid cunning. The Orks stayed on Black-rock for a while
to recoup their losses and such. This was surprising as usually Orks dont recoup or wait a while but get right back to fighting. Again extreme caution should be taken when fighting these Orks.

A Stroke of Good Luck

Those reading this report may wonder why the Black Rock Tribe was never attacked after the defeat of the Imperial Guard. There is a reason for this; Goge Vandire 361st Lord of Terra threw the Imperium into anarchy during the so-called Age of Apostasy. The horrors unleashed in this war are only spoken of in hushed whispers. By the time Vandire was overthrown the new leaders of the Imperium were more concerned with undoing the damage Vandire had done rather than stopping a common Ork warband. Again please note that this is no common warband.

Current Status and Threat Index
The Black Rock Tribe is currently led by a powerful and cunning warlord Wazgob Grimjaw. He got in power through genuinely orky methods; he spectacularly defeated other Orks in pit fighting contests and rather quickly rose through the ranks. He eventually defeated the old Warboss and took his place as the leader of the clan. Hes the one who started the Black-Rock Tribe on their way to expansion. Under the old Warboss the empire consisted of 3 worlds, currently under Wazgob the Orks control the entirety of the Benson sector and beyond. The main reason for their slow expansion is a lack off efficient or fast spaceships. It is not possible for the Orks to get human or alien spacecraft as tribute as the Benson sector is lacking entirely of human or alien life (other than indigenous animals), although it is possible for them to get these spacecraft from neighboring sectors. I believe it is but a matter of time before this happens, when it does I would most certainly fear for the worst. When in battle of with this tribe expect massive unpredictability and cunning. Throw everything you have at them.

Domain
The Black Rock Tribe is not a nomadic group, unlike most Orks, and instead is a large static empire. Their empire is located mostly in the Benson sector. But slowly using primitive non-warp engines they expand their empire to neighboring Imperial and alien worlds. They have also come to war with other tribes on a couple of occasions usually because the other tribe invaded their territory or got in the way.

Home World
The homeworld of the Black Rock clan is also their capital (if you can call it that). The planet is rather aptly and simply named Black-Rock. The geology and geography is hard and rough just like the inhabitants. Massive plains of Black obsidian and ash (this is wear they build their shanty towns, villages and cities). Great mountains of black rock poke out of the ground like dragons teeth. Massive volcanoes spew lava and ash making vast areas near them uninhabitable.
