About Us
Growing Green is an oganization that specializes in growing healthy food and plants, using organic methods. These methods include Aquaponics, Hydroponics, and Traditional Organic Gardening. Our goal is to use a sustainable model to provide our local community with affordable fruits and vegetables. And also to teach the community how they can grow this food for themselves. We are located in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Aquaponics uses 90% less water then traditional farming. This is because Aquaponics is a closed loop water system. You only lose water to uptake in plants and minimal evaporation.
The word, Hydroponic, comes from Latin and means working water. Simply put, it is the art of growing plants without soil. There are multiple methods to choose from when growing Hydroponically. How it works is: you creat a nutrient solution, this solution is typically pumped to your plants then returns to the solution tank.

Great info
Got this info from someone on freecycle: If you go to the bakery at ShopRite or any supermarket except for Wal-Mart where they charge, they'll give you their 5 gal white buckets from the frosting for free! They have handles and covers. They have many, empty, usually, ready to be discarded. They also usually have other sizes, also, and are happy to offer them. They are very durable and so useful! They are similar to the buckets that painters purchase at Home Depot. This was a fabulous discovery for me.... I have so many and I find countless uses for these.
