Description: This is a good drill to start off a shooting practice. The finisher passes the ball over to the distributor who sets up for a finish. The ball must be struck outside of the penalty box. Explanation: At the beginning off the drill the player taking the shot has to control the ball before shooting. When the players are comfortable enough they must finish with a single tocuh and with the increased pressure of a defender (Mr Mac) bearing down on them. This provides smooth transition from technical execution (practice) to performance demands(Uunder pressure - Like in a real match)

Task: Attacker - Finish using less than three consecutive passes per player Defenders - Clear the ball Purpose: Composure, direct attacks Complexity: Medium
Description: The attackers begin in line, at three different points: On the wing, 20 yeards inwards, and in the middle of the pitch. Two enemy fullbacks are intially located at the edge(centre) and corner of the penatly box. The ball starts with the player in the centre who passes to to defender on the corner of the box who lays it off to the winger. From that point the defneders try and clear the ball to the oppositie half of the pitch. The attackers are required to score using no more than three consecutive touches. Explanation: The intial pass is between attackers and defender is importnat as it encourage composed football rather than kick and rush football. It also encourages attackers to take advantage of possible poor clearances(something which is a common part of the game at for this age group). The winger encourages a more complex tatical move and empahasises the importance of using the wings to split defenders and get crosses into the box.
Shooting Drill: Counter 3v2 with wing
Shooting Drill: Standard 5v4 attack
Description: The keeper boots the ball at a pack of attackers gathered close to each other. The attackers are allowed to break up as soon as the ball lands. The defenders, standing in twos at the corner flags. also enter play when the ball lands. The defenders must complete ten uninterrupted passes to win. The attackers score before compelting 6 passes Explanation: This drill provides a good introduction to overall concepts of attack and defence. The attackers are required to spread out whereas the defenders have to maintain a compact group and keep their shape. Alternative: The attackers also hae to complete 10 passes before they can score. Explanation: In contrast to the previous goal for the attackers, which encourages driect attack, this exercise simulates breaking a solid defence down with passing - The way Argentina famously did in the last World Cup.
